I visited the Cote Lac on a relatively quiet Sunday night and had a very pleasant dinner with a local friend. I can imagine the restaurant is absolutely lovely in the summer when you can admire the view from the terrace, but it worked fine also on a dark January evening. The atmosphere and deco are refined but still relaxed and I imagine you could eat here both casually with friends or dress up for a romantic dinner.Prices are a bit on the higher end, but the food was good and well prepared and portions big, after all, you are in Savoy. Upon arrival we were served complimentary glasses of fruit punch plus a little something to eat while choosing dishes from the menu. I chose a salmon & avocado ceviche for starters, which was very tasty, with just a right amount of lime/lemon juice and cilantro in it. The starter alone was big, but the dinner continued with a fillet steak, served with truffle flavored potato pure and a side dish made of some green beans and mushrooms, which was a tad too salty, but as the steak itself was perfectly tender and well prepared, it didn't bother too much. For dessert I chose too scoops of sherbet, which were served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce and although I struggled to finish my plate after my huge starter and main dish, it was without a doubt some of the best ice cream I have eaten (and good ice cream is not self-evident!). The service was friendly and prompt, and all in all the experience was positive. I have no idea if the quality of the food and service varies much depending on when you visit the place, but based on this one experience, I do recommend giving Cote Lac a try.

Ambience was lacking, but we were the only diners on a mid-September Wednesday lunchtime so that is, perhaps, not surprising. We have visited several times before and have always been blown away by the food, however this time our meal was good but not exceptional - we felt that the menu lacked the originality and interesting combinations which existed previously. Sad to say, we shall probably not return unless we are in the area anyway (We had driven an hour to get here)

Without doubt my worst restaurant experience ever......extremely rude staff, our food arrived very late, we were served warm drinks on a scorching day and were ignored when we asked for ice for our glasses. Any request we made was ignored. Took more than hour to receive our order, the food was fine but nothing special. On leaving we were overcharged for our meal.

Love going to new restaurants, love finding hidden gems. Often disappointed. Not this time. This is a very slick operation located right next to the clean, airy and generally-pleasant outdoor minilake in Combloux. The welcome was efficient, tableware just fine, deco spot on, view outrageous and terrace full of atmosphere. The food - a whopping burrata caprese - was a bit expensive but utterly worth it, definitely the best lunch I have had this year.I think this joint would be perfect for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. I can't wait to go back.Hope you find my experience of this excellent little restaurant useful. If so, please hit the thumbs-up for me!
