We moved on to Grandma's Stew which was very tasty, and served with chips and salad. Finished off with coffee, all good and will be back

The restauran... read more We visited here some years ago. Been to Comares three times now. This was to be our “special” meal while in Comares based on previous experiences. The restaurant has clearly changed hands or the owners have lost interest over the last few years. The back dining area is now an open space. When we went previously the atmosphere was amazing and the food too. The place was bustling. Alas this time….oh dear. When we arrived we were asked to sit outside to eat. The wasps were un bearable and the porch was dirty and not swept. When our food came it was Chicken satay. Merely some peanut sauce spooned over the Chicken. Pizzas were not great and the ribs were tough. The puddings were all out of a packet. Only had Vanilla Ice Cream. Appreciate this May have been a one off, but clearly not the same standard we have had. There use to be a quality Chef, now it seems only a School style Cook. The toilets had no hand dryer that was working and there were no hand towels. Men’s and women’s. The whole place was in darkness and there was simply zero atmosphere. Really disappointed for €100. Restaurant next door was incredible the day before for lunch. The owners were friendly, but there was simply no sparkle. Such a shame as it was a real gem. I did speak to one of the locals when we were back in Comares and he said the place has a reputation locally as too expensive and hit and miss….Sorry to leave negative feedback, but that is how it was and hope it can only get better. You have been warned……..

From the first minute Richard was very welcoming and chatty, and so have been Mario Megan on each subsequent visit, whether that was afternoon drinks or an evening meal. Always made to feel welcome, great food served with a friendly chat and banter. Must add that most customers think they were locals) were also friendly. Bailey has made new friends showing off her tricks for treats

Amazing food again for a second time visiting here almost a year apart. We shared the carpaccio to start which was served with rocket (ruculla , Parmesan shavings and lovely fresh tomatoes (we ate it before getting a photo! It was too good! . For our mains I had the traditional Kip Sate again (I had to as it reminds me of home and it’s the best you will get , my husband had the homemade curry which was so delicious and fragrant and my daughter had the carbonara which was served again with lovely fresh rocket, lots of cracked black pepper and delicious flavour (my husband said he would get that next time it was so good . The white wine was lovely and crisp and the service was friendly, attentive and I loved they chatted a bit of Dutch with me whilst had impeccable English for my husband and daughter! My daughter actually said while we were sitting with the incredible views that she feels so “at home” which I would say was “gezellig” can’t wait to be back again. Highly recommend ….. again ….. hartstikke bedankt
