Comacchio as such is one of the most impressive hidden pearls in Italy. And in Comacchio, La Locanda la Comacina is the absolute queen among the restaurants. We had a totally amazing appetizer (radicchio rolls filled with gambettas, and two terrific main dishes (beef filet in pepper sauce and gnocchi with shrimps. and the desrrt called (Passagiata del Valle) is incredible. A must if you come to Comacchio but you need to book a table outside on the boat.
We went to La Comacina for lunch only (it is not listed as only a restaurant, hence the review in the hotel category). We (my wife and I) each had a primi and a secondi, shared a bottle of water and 0,5l of the housewine. We skipped dessert, but had a café each. Including coperto and a small tip we paid a total of 85€. In return we got to enjoy the best food (yet) on our three week tour through northern Italy. The (free) amuse gueule, a thin slice of grilled wheat-bread with a fishcream that reminded us of the venetian baccalà was very tasty. Especially the primi (we had the grilled eel and the gnocchi with scampi) were phenomenal. The secondi (mixed fried seafood and gamberetti) were very good as well, but not quite as outstanding. The housewine (6€ for 0,5l) was good and more than worth its pricetag. The café was pretty good, which surprinsingly enough, is not a given in Italy. All in all La Comacina is a restaurant that we can only recommend (and with emphasis). We combined our lunch there with a trip to the city museum, which we also recommend. PS: We were sitting outside a long a canal that reminds you of Venice, just without the amount of annoying tourists (well... like ourselves I guess). So that would be another plus.
