Description
**Dining Experience at Plas: A Mixed Bag**
Plas has garnered a spectrum of reviews, reflecting both impressive culinary artistry and notable missteps. While some patrons rave about the attentive service, atmospheric setting, and inventive dishes, others find the food's execution lacking, particularly regarding flavor balance and presentation. The seasonal menu offers creative options, yet inconsistencies—like overwhelming pickled ingredients—raise concerns. Cocktails also draw mixed opinions, with many feeling they need refinement. Despite these variations, a significant number express a willingness to return, drawn by the restaurant’s potential and the promise of evolving menus tailored to different palates. The overall experience remains a compelling, yet uneven, culinary adventure.

My husband and I have been to Plas many times, along with my daughter on several occasions so she can have the vegan charcuterie cheese board. This place is special. When we enter the chef greets us (I'm always impressed that he remembers us), and we always feel welcomed. We have always had excellent service, although I admit there's something special about having Doug as our server because he is so passionate about the food. We have had numerous cocktails (Fireside, Manhattans) and red wine—all have been excellent. I enjoy Friday and Saturday because of the excellent fish specials that they often have, but Happy Hour during the week is a great value. We love this place. Five stars! And a much needed restaurant in Columbus.
The food here is consistently top-notch. I ordered the Sunday gravy while my partner opted for the lamb ragu, and I can't praise it enough. The gnocchi and pasta were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was outstanding. The chef truly knows their craft. Don’t skip the arugula and pear salad either—it's simply delightful. While the prices are on the higher side, they are absolutely worth it. I will definitely return!
This was far above the worst food I've had at any restaurant in a long time. The meatball tasted like seasoned sawdust. The crab ravioli was fishy and not flavorful. The Thai inspired chicken was basically two drumsticks covered with a sauce that vaguely had an Asian flavor. A very overwhelming problem was that each component of the meal had a large amount of either pickles or pickled cabbage present within the dish. I have nothing against pickles and I think they're a nice garnish but they were present in volume on the bread plate, the charcuterie board and in each dish. The pickled cabbage permeated the flavors on my dishes and in my girlfriends and she had different food than I did. it was $98 per person for a prefix menu. It was absolutely not worth it in anyway.
Plas is my all time favorite restaurant in Columbus. They have a rotating seasonal menu, wonderful drink and wine menu including NA beer and creative mocktails. The servers are passionate and knowledgeable and long term employees. Great service, ambiance and food!
