Love docs it gets busy quick because everything is good. One of the best places to eat in columbia fried chicken is amazing.Food: 5/5
2nd visit to this restaurant. The food was still very good but nowhere worth the $15-20 price tag for a weekday lunch meal.
Quality of the food was excellent. Tea was out during most the time I was there. Meager selection of barbecue meats (1) pulled pork. No brisket. No ribs. No sliced barbecue. No darbecue chicken. Barbecue was out on the first pass. Waited 3 or 4 minutes for barbecue to arrive still none. Mac and cheese was phenomenal. Hush puppies were phenomenal. Fried fish very good. Barbecue on the second plate was better than average and was tasty. Scored this 4 out of 5 stars as you just don't run outta sweet tea or barbecue when doing a busy lunch service.
I visited Doc's Barbeque for the first time on July 17, 2023, around 11 AM, and was genuinely impressed by the food. Although the coleslaw wasn’t my favorite, everything else was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, filled with friendly, satisfied customers, giving it a homey feel. If you're dieting, this is definitely a day to indulge! Overall, they did an outstanding job. I honestly don’t understand why anyone would leave without trying everything on the menu. After your meal, you’ll likely want to take a nap. If you come for lunch, getting back to work might be tough—I’d suggest taking a half day off! Parking was convenient and free.
Doc's Barbeque is an absolute must for anyone craving soul food and BBQ! Even though I don’t eat meat, the catfish nuggets are incredible. There’s nothing quite like a great plate of Fish and Chips. The cobbler is excellent too. If you prefer vegetables, the veggie plate is just as satisfying. My son can’t get enough of the fried chicken with mac and cheese—he even did a little happy dance! Food: 5/5
Doc's Barbeque serves homestyle soul food via a generous buffet—pulled pork with multiple sauces, fried chicken, catfish, mac-and-cheese, hush puppies and notable desserts like banana pudding and cobbler. Guests praise friendly staff, reasonable prices and a warm, homey atmosphere that suits families and GameDay crowds. Expect variety and hearty portions, but occasional crowding, inconsistent quality (chewy fish, tough chips), and sporadic beverage or BBQ shortages have been reported.

This is one of the best BBQ spots in Columbia. The yellow BBQ sauce is fantastic, and the Welsnuggets are outstanding. Highly recommend!
Doc's restaurant features a fantastic buffet. Their pulled pork is incredibly tasty, and they offer three different barbecue sauces, all of which are delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the fried chicken was—it's among the best I’ve ever had. Additionally, there's a great selection of side dishes.
The restaurant offers a buffet style dining experience with a great variety of food. I particularly enjoyed the fish, rolls, and meatballs. It's a nice place to sit with friends and sample a bit of everything. I also think the BBQ pork is quite tasty.
Always love coming to Doc's while in Columbia! A great place for lunch to avoid state fair food prices or for GameDay catering!!!!! Food is always amazing! People are always friendly! Doc's is always going to be my #1 when it comes to southern food in Columbia, SC!!
Very good and slightly unique for a couple of things on the buffet. The hash was sweeter than expected but not bad at all. Price was about right, staff were friendly. Everything I had was good or great. I did not try the cobbler but my friend said it was the best thing he had on our visit and went back for more. Definitely worth a shot if you're in the area!

Buffet-style. Decent food selection. I like the fish/corn rolls/balls. Sit down with some friends and enjoy a little bit of everything. I am told the BBQ pork is pretty good.
