I ended up having to throw one of the servings away. It felt as if they had forgotten to add seasoning. I really can't understand how you can have the actual Egusi seeds in the soup and yet have it taste like nothing. It truly baffled me. I had a similar experience with their Jollof rice, which prompted me to call the restaurant. The owner was very polite and explained that she has adjusted her recipes to be less flavorful and spicy to cater to a clientele that may not be accustomed to West African cuisine. I don't know if that approach affected the Egusi soup as well, but I doubt it, since the last time I ordered Egusi soup from them, it was good. Overall, my experience at this restaurant has been disappointing, as I found the food to be subpar two out of three times. I won't be spending any more money here. That said, I do want to emphasize that the owner is very nice and courteous. However, in my opinion, this food doesn't represent West African cuisine well, especially not for those familiar with Nigerian food.
This restaurant is, without a doubt, the best place to eat. They offer a wide variety of dishes at great prices, and the portions are generous. I highly recommend it!
The food and service were exceptional. From the moment I walked in until I left, Ms. Elizabeth was incredibly warm and welcoming. She offered food samples and took the time to explain each dish. I highly recommend this restaurant, as you won't be disappointed. Thank you, Ms. Elizabeth, for giving my taste buds an unforgettable journey to Africa!
I celebrated my birthday today with my son at this restaurant, and the food was absolutely delicious—I'm still full three hours later! Every dish was incredibly tasty. The husband, whose name I unfortunately forgot, served us and was very friendly, providing detailed explanations about the menu. His wife, the chef, has been cooking since she was 13, and her expertise really shows in the quality of the food. The prices were reasonable, not too expensive at all. They also host events like sip and paint, which is a nice touch. I’m so glad they’re in the Columbia area and can’t wait to go back for more!
This restaurant is fantastic! The staff is extremely friendly. I dined here several times during my trip.
