18.01.26 This is an Asian restaurant near Cologne Cathedral. I went there because I wanted Japanese ramen and sushi, but it turned out to be a Vietnamese Asian restaurant. They serve pho and Vietnamese food, as well as sushi, maki, rolls, and sashimi. They also serve Külsch, a Cologne beer. I ordered eel sushi, pho, wontons, and shrimp spring rolls, but the wontons weren't soup-based; they were fried dumplings. The spring rolls and wontons were delicious, and the pho was thick but flavorful and not overpowering. Ask for Sriracha sauce. All four pieces of eel sushi (unagi nigiri) had bones. The bones were huge and I didn't want to waste my money. The staff were so busy that I couldn't ask for help and just left.
Kuchi Mami in Cologne absolutely deserves an excellent rating. The sushi boat was incredibly delicious, and the honey-glazed duck and beef noodle soup were also outstanding. They deserve special mention for staying open a little later so we could come and eat. We were driving back from our ski vacation in Austria and still had to continue on to Belgium. This restaurant was the perfect stopover. Since we were already familiar with Kuchi Mami from previous visits, we knew the quality was excellent – and we weren't disappointed this time either.
