The Chequers - Colchester

Beautiful landscape traditional village pub. Vegan options are available in the main menu, but if they call in advance, vegan (and veggie) options are available for Sunday roast. Today we had an ingenious nuss roast on Sunday. it was made fresh and the whole veg was perfect. vegan gravure, in a large crippled, also provided. let me say again. call them to book at least one week in advance, chef is super accomodating, but they must let him know!

Great local pub offers some good vegan options. gastgeber is knowledgeable and understands veganism. roast is spectacular, but they must deffo prior to booking to ensure vegan prep and options are made right! vegan yorkshire puds also!

Very good all round visit excellent well kept real ale, welcoming landlord and efficient serving staff, tasty and very reasonably priced food menu. And those extras like a fire going in the wood burning stove. Stopped off here on route on the Essex Way.

We are a walking group that enjoy finishing off our Thursday walk in the Essex and Suffolk countryside with a pub lunch. This was our return visit to the Chequers, a village pub near to the Essex Way. Where once again the standard of hospitality, range of food and good cask ales was found very much to our liking. We look forward to future visits.

11 of us out for an evening meal. Absolutely first class drink, food and service generally. Very, very highly recommended. After the difficulty for hospitality venues over the last 18 months, support your pubs and if you need one recommended, then I would offer this one.
