What Darren L doesn't like about Mersea Island Fish:
This used to be our go-to chip shop because my daughter requires gluten-free meals. However, after a recent visit with my family, we were disappointed with the quality of the food. The chips were terrible and the fish was undercooked. We used to come here a few times a month, but now we will be looking for a new chip shop as this one has gone downhill. View all feedback. What User likes about Mersea Island Fish:
The rock, cod and chips at this restaurant were absolutely perfect. It was the best fish and chips I have ever had. The batter on the fish was just right, not greasy or soggy like some other places. The staff were nice, polite and happy, and the spaces were clean. Overall, everything was perfect! View all feedback.

read moreMersea Island's Fishable offers a mixed experience for diners, with many praising its friendly staff and delightful dishes, especially the squid and skate. While some customers recall flavorful fish and perfectly crisp chips, others express disappointment over soggy batter and reheated potatoes. The restaurant's consistency appears to waver, affecting repeat visitors who cherished the previously excellent quality. Despite some lapses in food preparation, the establishment is lauded for its cleanliness and generous portions. As fish and chips remain a beloved treat amid rising costs, patrons hope for a return to the restaurant's earlier culinary prowess.
I ordered the large cod and chips for about £15. It was probably the second worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was overcooked and didn't seem like cod...

Very busy on an early Sunday evening, so we had a short wait, but it was definitely worth it. Fish and batter was very tasty and the chips were delicious
