Thats Amore - Cobh

I'm not sure what happened, but our experience with takeout from this restaurant a few months ago was good. However, this time was terrible. The bruschetta was made with cheap, tasteless tomatoes sprinkled with sugar, and the creamy chicken pasta dish was also overly sweet. It was so unpleasant that we had to throw it away. Overall, it was a dreadful experience.

This restaurant has gone downhill. I had some amazing takeout from here early last year that was highly recommended. However, yesterday evening I got takeout that was only okay. The fries were the highlight. When I went inside to pick up my order, I was disappointed by the appearance. It looked like a construction site, with dirty gas tanks piled up against one wall and tables and chairs against the other. The entire atmosphere was off-putting. I will not be getting takeout from there again.

My husband and I visited this cozy restaurant for the first time. We had dinner on a quiet Tuesday night to celebrate a birthday, amidst the increasing cases of Covid-19. Upon entering, we wore our masks until we were seated. To our surprise, we were the only ones in the restaurant and were seated in a cozy corner by the window. However, we were uncomfortable that our waiter, although friendly, was not wearing a mask or face shield. Being 36 weeks pregnant, this made us anxious whenever he approached us. Another couple came in wearing masks and were seated far away from us. We also noticed some customers not wearing face coverings while waiting for takeout, which made us uncomfortable. We believe there should be a sign mandating masks in the restaurant premises. Despite our discomfort, we enjoyed the bruschetta and garlic bread for starters, followed by delicious pasta dishes. The tiramisu and complimentary slice of baileys and chocolate cheesecake were a nice touch. We had a red wine, diet coke, and Americano for drinks. Overall, we enjoyed the food but would hesitate to return unless safety measures, like wearing masks, were implemented by the staff. Safety is crucial during these times, which reflects in our rating.

I visited amore restaurant with my family tonight and it was absolutely beautiful. It’s an absolute treasure of a restaurant in kells a hidden gem. The service is the best and the food was faultless. Beautiful ingredients freshly cooked. Everything on the menu sounded gorgeous and looked it too! Pictures attached! Definitely will be visiting here a lot and everyone else should too!

It is great that Kells finally has an amazing Italian restaurant to match other in surrounding towns and cities!. We had a meal in Amore last weekend after hearing great things about it from loads of people in the town and we were not disappointed. The newly refurbished decor is really nice and a lovely atmosphere. The owner could not be more friendly and polite but in now way intrusive. I had meat balls for starters based on his recommendation and they were really good. But the fillet steak for mains really was amazing. I would put it right up there with some of the best I have had at home or abroad. My wife had feta cheese followed by a pizza and again the taste of the pizza reminded me of being on holidays abroad !. And to make it all the better the value is extremely good across starter mains and wine and the selection on the menu is also brilliant. Something to suit everyone. Some of the longer established restaurants in the town have let standards drop of late, whilst hiking the prices up to Dublin City Centre rates, it is now fantastic to have a top quality restaurant in Kells that saves you having to travel to other surrounding towns to also get the value that should be there in the town. The owner advised they now do take away which we will be trying, and the early bird is also available all evening now, not just from 5 to 8pm. I am glad to join the long list of people in Kells who are now recommending Amore as the best restaurant in Kells! Go look to the owner and all his staff in 2020!
