Oishii
Description
Nestled in Clovis, this restaurant recently reshuffled its ownership, prompting mixed experiences among diners. While some patrons lamented disorganized service and incorrect orders, others praised the establishment for its delightful Thai and sushi offerings. Guests enjoyed fresh dishes, like the impressive Thai yellow curry and authentic summer rolls. The atmosphere may seem limited, but the attentive service and well-prepared food have won over many locals. Notably, the bold flavors and quality ingredients often transport guests back to Thailand, making it a must-try for anyone in the area seeking both sushi and Thai cuisine. Unfortunately, the tom yum noodle soup was a letdown. Given how delicious the sashimi was, I had high hopes for the soup. However, it lacked the essential ingredients one expects in a tom yum dish: no mushrooms, lemongrass, shrimp, lime, Thai chilies, or cilantro. Instead, it was served with just bean sprouts, pho noodles, and green onions. When asked if I wanted pork, chicken, or steak, I chose pork, but the menu had indicated that it would come with chicken and shrimp. Overall, it was unfulfilling and didn't meet my craving for tom yum, although it wasn't terrible—I just wouldn't classify it as tom yum soup. As for the service, it was pretty uneventful. My server appeared to be in training, seemed quite reserved, and I could barely hear him in the quiet restaurant. He didn't check on me during my meal and didn’t provide any napkins.
Delicious food and exceptionally friendly service! I was truly impressed by the quality, flavor, and portion sizes of the dishes. My only suggestion would be to use a plastic container for the curry sauce, as a lot of it leaked out of the standard takeout box when I ordered to go.
Even though they DO NOT have Tofu listed in the menu they accommodated my Thai stir fry with tofu since I did not eat meet. The food was awesome. The service was amazing. Ambiance for Clovis is great.
Food contamination central here! I watched the owner start to make my roll and his wife brought him the cell phone he received a call on and grab the phone with his bare hands talk for a few minutes and touched the phone again to disconnect. He then proceeded to return to my roll without washing his hands or at least put on gloves!!! Do not come here! Unless you're ok with this kinda crap.
I'm typically not a fan of eating sushi in the middle of the desert, but this place was incredibly delicious and fresh! I went back a second day and had Thai hot red curry and it blew my socks off! Most places never make it truly Thai Hot but this dish was truly hot and this one made me double think my choice! I finished it the next day with a glass of milk nearby
