Description

Mitchell's restaurant in Clifden has been a longstanding tradition for many families, offering spectacular food but with declining service. Some visitors noted curt and unfriendly staff, while others praised the exquisite seafood dishes like oysters, mussels, and salmon. The elegant atmosphere and use of high-quality local ingredients were consistent highlights, with standout dishes like rhubarb tart and fish and chips drawing praise. Prices were reasonable for the quality offered. Mitchell's is a great option for seafood lovers seeking a refined dining experience in a classy setting, though families with small children may find the ambiance less accommodating.

We had a fantastic meal here. The cod was cooked to perfection and was swimming in a delicious sauce with some vegetables. The desserts were also absolutely superb. The service was certainly good as well. We gave a five-euro tip; judging by their reaction, they had expected a bit more... Be sure to make a reservation, they work in two shifts and it gets busy!

Went there for lunch I must say the oysters, the clams and the fish were pretty damn good. Had fish and chips as well. The fish was a little bit oily but still very decent to the taste. Must say 4.5 is a little bit low for this restaurant as it was a very good experience from top to bottom very clean located in a nice area. And the food was pretty spectacular. I like oysters again after having them from this place they were so fresh. A must go.

Very fresh and tasty seafood. Highly recommend. I got the fish pie but everything great on the menu. Worthwhile stop on the way to Connemara National Park

I'd say this was the best restaurant on our tour of Ireland. Excellent seafood. The ingredients were really good, and most importantly, they weren't overdone with the usual sauces, milk, or cream, as is often the case in Ireland. Really good. The service was quick, attentive, and very friendly. Prices were average, but considering the quality/price ratio, they were excellent.
