Les Commercants - Clermont-Ferrand

Stayed at best western next door - Less Commercants was their partner restaurant so I dined there 4 times .Staff friendly and spoke English when I got a bit stuck with my French Good service- didnt have to wait too long and fish beautifully cooked with a number of good veg accompaniements Eg leeks , celry and Les Lentilles de Puy .Would thoroughly reccomend .

I stayed at the Best Western Lafyette hotel next door to this restaurant and was a little disappointed that food wasn't served until 19h00 and the waiter was a little choosy as to where I sat. Putting this to one side the food, wine and service was excellent.

We did not get what we ordered. And the pasta we got wasn't very tastfull. Not very helpfull personnell.

We went for a quick meal before leaving the area. Although it was the end of lunchtime, and they were ready to close, they were happy to serve us. I was particulary impressed because I asked if they could make me a vegetarian meal (veggies will know just how difficult this can be in France) and they came up with a wonderful feast.

5 out of 5 because we were brilliantly surprised. we had gone to the city center and found it alive, confusing and a little scary, so we went back to be close to our hotel. 1 or 2 restaurants/bars near and not. right next to the hotel was this bar/restaurant. extremely inspiring to be honest faded a la carte menu in the window etc. we had a drink and decided to have the formula 2 course meals on the beautifully written board (always a good sign) looked good, so even if we were only people who decided to go there. within minutes of the opening of the restaurant were another 13 people arrived. the meals were really good, did exactly what was described and were really well presented. the service very friendly and excellent. the local wee around only 22 euro were a bottle brilliant. often in france they end the least likely place and it proves to be an unforgettable experience (for the right reasons) and this has certainly. go!
