I 'd been to L 'Ecureuil many years ago, so I decided to return with my family. I really don 't know if was the same restaurant, but with it 's great reviews I decided it was worth a visit. We were not disappointed. While the hostess really didn 't speak English, and we didn 't speak French, we were able to make our through the menu. My son and I took a leap of faith and ordered the ris de veau. The waitress was able... View all feedback.
What Monique Breton doesn't like about L'Écureuil:
food is really excellent. Nothing to say about service. On the other hand, the wine map is quite thin and unsurprising for a restaurant "semi-gastro", and the setting is not at the height...A good time spent with friends despite everything, but surely other places to test before wanting to return. Locally sourced ingredients, well executed cooking and friendly staff, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you happen to stay in Clermont-Ferrand. The dishes are well portioned, made with fresh and tasty ingredients (some from the garden of the father's chef apparently) and naturally varies according to the season. The place is relatively plainly decorated but pleasant and welcoming. The prices are fair given the quality of the dishes and the level of service provided. We actually went there twice during a three day stay in the city, so were definitely satisfied and felt very welcomed. The only thing I would suggest the restaurant to consider is ensuring that the wine bottles are stored at the right temperature. They seem stored at room temperature so the wine end up being too warm.
Small and perfectly formed French Bistro in the heart of the city. Two set menus to choose from, €27 and €42, two or three courses. Wine list in a large chalk board. Plenty to choose from with a good price range. Good selection of wines by the glass. Very friendly and helpful staff. Just enough English spoken to get by. Three course set menu and a bottle of medium priced wine was €119. Excellent value or money.
The neighborhood is not as much fun as possible, the frame not as much sought after, but we come to eat and there things start to be interesting. Freshness of products, cooking mastery, seasoning. It is not very large kitchen but really very good kitchen. widely enough to spend a very good time with friends or family. A very good quality price.
We went there in the evening, the waiter was alone for the entire restaurant and made a very honorable service with regard to the number of covers tonight. however, the attention to the client and the relational was thus very limited. Kitchen okay, homemade, but no more to my taste. Good choice of bistro-type wines, without anything remarkable short ok without more
Located near the court in the old clermont and near a parking lot this restaurant can justify the freshness and quality of its products. a regret all the restaurants around and they are many have a terrace not the squirrel and it's a shame in the summer. the service is correct but the bill is a bit high to my taste. 122,60 € for three. (a dish, a dessert, a glass of wine, per person and 2 coffees) I think that for this price there is better in Clermont-Ferrand, without regret.
