Nestled in Patrick Square, this lively wine bar pairs an impressive by-the-glass list and wine flights with creative small plates in a cozy, classy setting. Standouts include charcuterie, Southern-style flatbreads and inventive appetizers, making it ideal for dates, friends or wine lovers. Experiences vary: staff can be knowledgeable and welcoming, but guests also report slow service, occasional soggy flatbreads and limited ingredient substitutions. With convenient parking and walkable proximity to inns, a brewery and cafés, it’s a popular Clemson stop worth trying.
Excellent. Been years since, but they had Absentee and oh boy those memories flooded in..Great place to spend some time with friends or family.Looking forward to seeing y'all...
Matt was great and seemed to know his wines. My wife and I enjoyed celebrating one night of our anniversary weekend here. We recommend it.
This place is attractive, busy and has good vibes. Came here for food and ordered basic wine/beer. The Almost Cuban was delicious. The Pear and Gorgonzola Beggar’s Purses were also excellent but quite skimpy for a main dish. The Balsamic Chicken with Brown Rice and Quinoa was good but the request to sub feta for tomato was not possible because “we are low on tomatoes”. The Il Pollo Caprese flatbread was tasteless and soggy. Overall, a good alternative when in Clemson.
If you’re not part of the “in” crowd, I’d recommend passing on this spot! I was really looking forward to visiting this wine bar, especially since they also serve food. The menu looked fantastic, so I picked it for dinner. I arrived at 5:15, a bit early since I was traveling for business alone and wanted to avoid the dinner rush. When I got there, the server told me he needed to check if there was room for me—not in a sarcastic way, but seriously. Really? There was one table occupied and a couple at the bar. He offered me a seat at the bar, which was fine by me. Then, he handed me a stack of three menus and walked away. During this time, it seemed like the owner and the server were engaged in conversation with the couple at the bar, discussing vacations and pouring them free samples. I saw that there was a taco special for Tuesday and possibly a Happy Hour, but there were no signs or mentions of either. When I inquired about it, the server looked annoyed, making me regret not leaving right then. I ended up ordering the seared tuna salad and asked the server for a wine pairing recommendation, hoping to get some expert advice. He made a suggestion, which I went with, and my food arrived quickly. It was delicious, and the wine paired well, but I felt uncomfortable the entire time. This place feels more like a bar than anything else, and nobody seemed particularly welcoming. Eventually, a female server noticed my discomfort and checked in on me. By that time, another local had come in and was sharing stories about her dog, complete with photos, and everyone was engaged and participating—just reinforcing the locals-only atmosphere. I noticed a nearby table enjoying a three-glass wine tasting. Why wasn’t I informed about that? I paid my bill as soon as I finished and left. I would have loved to try a second glass of wine, but I just didn’t feel welcome there. It feels more like a private club than a place for anyone to enjoy.
