Tequila's Mexican Grill And - Clearlake

As a Mexican, I'm quite particular about my Mexican cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant; the food was fresh and full of flavor, and the staff was friendly. Since there were only a few customers, we didn't have to wait long for our meals. We ordered the La Parrillada, which is enough for four people, and it was absolutely delicious!

This place used to be wonderful, but on my latest visit, the restaurant was completely empty. The staff had a bad attitude and didn't seem to care. Everyone I bought food for agreed that the quality has dropped significantly. All of our meals were cold, despite me arriving on time for pickup. The chicken in my tacos was cooler than room temperature, and there was no flavor or spice to be found. Everything we ordered looked and tasted like no effort had been made. I won’t be coming back, and this just adds to the reasons why I miss Cactus Grill so much.

The shrimp was undercooked. I’m not quite sure what to make of that. I definitely don’t want to risk getting sick or having seafood poisoning.

Always love the food and service. You experience the quality of their food as soon as the on the house chips and salsa are served. The salsa is perfectly seasoned and the strawberry margaritas are on point. I love that they have pool, foosball, and air hockey tables. My family enjoys tequilas often.

I have eaten here probably 10 times in the past couple years. The food is always good. I always get takeout so I can’t speak to the environment or the table service. The reason I have it rated so low is that the food always messes up my stomach every time I go. I wake up in the middle of the night with pain and bathroom issues. It took me a few times of eating it to find out exact what was causing it. I think I have narrowed it down to something they put in the carne asada. The times I’ve had other meat it doesn’t happen. They have a lot of different options and they are all good. Just don’t get the asada.
