What User doesn't like about Roux Americajun Restaurant Bar:
Great friendly service but the floor shakes every time someone walks by. The Cajun fries were great but the sweet potato fries were bland (and I'd happily eat sweet potatoes plain). The shrimp had an old seafood taste but the grits were good. The catfish was extra fishy. View all feedback.
A friend and I are on a mission to try shrimps and grottos throughout the city, and Roux was next on the list. The best I had, ever. The taste was incredible. We also ordered the Boudin balls for an appetizer, and wow, they were absolutely delicious. I'm definitely back.
Visited here and met up with a friend. Pretty cool, chill vibe. Food was good for the most part. Drinks were good as well. Could use more seating space because it was a little crowded but, overall had a nice time.
This place is the so good. We went for my birthday. We ordered the sampler, shrimp and grits, and dirty balls. Service was excellent. The food was delish. I will be coming here more often. It was my first time here and I loved it. Just yummy.
It 's different and good, but not divine. The atmosphere is excellent. Sort of shabby urban with tasteful decorations, though maybe a bit cliche (brick walls with rough mortar, sort of the warehouse look we see at many 'downtown ' style eateries). Service was excellent and attentive without being overbearing. Food came quickly, but not suspiciously so. Mac and cheese pie with etoufee was awesome. Red beans and rice was authentic, but slightly bland. Boudain balls were good and the sauce with them was to die for. The New Orleans nacho was awesome, but heavy. The jambalaya was overpowered by bay leaves and the gumbo had broccoli rather than okra and was... Not good. The bread pudding was delicious. So a 3 star rating is too low. The boudain and the nacho were creative and the service and atmosphere were excellent. I 'm going with four stars, but just barely. Still worth a visit ... You may hit it on a better night or disagree with my palate 's opinion.
A friend and I have made it our mission to sample shrimp and grits at various restaurants across the city, and our latest stop was Roux. It was hands down the best I've ever had! The flavor was phenomenal. We also tried the Boudin balls as an appetizer, and they were simply outstanding. I will definitely be returning!
