Tony was on service at Davies Ground. He told me that his dad (and Tony is retired) used to run "Peters by the sea" in Scarborough many moons ago. Tony has come out of retirement to help his daughter at Davies Ground. So the family business has roots in Perth that run deep. It shows. This is good food, well priced. It was freezing cold and raining outside and the doors were open like it was a beautiful spring day - very odd it would have been much more enjoyable and comfortable if the doors were closed???

Best coffee in Claremont. I am very sure that your mix of La Jacoba coffee Asprounion has on it because it tastes great. Everyone should come to try it.
Great little local cafe. Have all different cakes. Good place to have a light breakfast and coffee. Friendly staff, make you feel at home. After you can have a nice walk around lake Claremont.
First time and all looks lovely/pretty even - wasn't going to eat then decided to do so and review. Basic breakfast well done - packet 'pullets' (eggs?) scrambled with lots of butter, ample serving and presented well - all promising except can someone tell the owners the days of serviettes being wrapped around utensils have been 'hygiened' out, whether water or a little spittle (ugh?) is used - it is still someone else's hands getting there before yours - and then the coffee ...yikes, burnt and tasteless (and this is a 'signature' item for all cafes, no excuse) - forget anything resembling proper temperature etc had to look up 'expresso' again when I got to work! With new direction, Baristas and taking up some suggestions ...well maybe ... another review in a few months time.
Many places have come and gone at this location. Finally - Davies Ground has given us something great. They make great coffee, and we particularly love the Greek inspired deserts... I see it as a better version of Boucla (that is better service, better coffee and better food)!
Had one of the best breakfasts of my life here! I love a cafe that is happy to bend the rules for me, they were happy to swap ingredients out and add others in at no extra cost! The scrambled eggs were so scrumptious and such a generous serve! My long black was a bit bland, but still nice and my husband's flat white was deliciously creamy and strong. Took a caramel slice and rocky road away with us. BEST slices I've ever had! Seriously! Can't wait to go back!
