We had a sharing platter that had very generous portions of a selection of Rome goodies, and they were absolutely amazing so fresh and full of flavor, a fine example of Rome cuisine. Then we had 3 pastas to that the 3 of us shared the stand out winner for me was the Carbonara which was simple incredible, so creamy and rich in flavor I am sad to think that I will be judging all other Carbonara to this one for the rest of my life now. Service isn't the fastest but this is Italy, food is to be enjoyed at a slow pace that lets you enjoy the whole experience and we welcome the 30 45 minute wait between plates anyway since the sharing appetizer was SO filling we needed all the time we could get to recover. The hostess was very friendly, and the bill at the end of it was FAR less than what I would be willing to pay which in my opinion calls for a generous tip. Dont be put off by 1 star reviews, if you're in a rush go to McDonalds down the street but if you want some authentic Rome food, then Pyper is a must visit!

Our first visit we had... read more Tonight was our second visit to Pyper. We are in Civitivecchia pre cruise…we happened onto this magical plaza and took a chance on Pyper. Our first visit we had the pasta carbonara which was very generous and simply delicious! Decided to give it another try tonight and chose the Pistachio pesto pasta. It was incredible…..lightly flavored with bacon, the delicate nutty flavor left each bite wanting more. This is a family restaurant and has been open for 7 year. Laura, the owner is very attuned to detail and very personable. The finishing touch to our dining experience was a complementary licorice flavored liquer and Almond flavored cookie…perfect to finish our meal. This is the real Civitivecchia…..please give it a try!
