The food and atmosphere were excellent, but the service really needs improvement. We waited nearly an hour without being acknowledged or served, and our server didn't come by to take our order. We even had to ask the host about her. This lack of attention continued throughout our meal. I'm glad to see restaurants reopening in NYC, but Young's needs to train their staff to be more attentive. First time trying this place and likely the last. The food was meh and the service was not great- I can get over them being slammed and working out the kinks. But the hostess was so rude ! Your first impression and it was a bad one. It wasn’t just to me either , the couple next to me had the same comment. Maybe a bad day but really uncalled for. Don’t recommend- there are much better places in Tribeca View all feedback.
Ron is wonderful. The team is great. Victoria especially, she is most attentive and kind. Restaurant Week Dinner Menu is superb . My father and fiancé also loved it. We look forward to visiting again.
Service was top notch from the moment I walked in; Miguel (the host) and Dawn (the manager) were both equally friendly and sociable in their greeting. Our server, I forgot her name, was on top on checking on us after every meal as was Dawn and gave me great wine recommendations. The food was delicious! The calamari was cooked for a perfect crisp, and went very well with the herb aioli (which I normally don't care for aioli). The branzino was a perfect portion and the flavors of the sauce were perfectly matched with the mashed potatoes and spinach. The chocolate cake was good, but the key lime pie was divine perfect blend of tart and creamy. It was also really easy to get to, as it was right by the subway stop.
This is my third time at Smyth, and I keep hoping for improvement. I’m rooting for your guys. But the food is really average — like an “expensive” Marriott restaurant you’d find anywhere. The filet mignon was brought to me well done drowning in very bland sauce. (I ordered Medium rare! The Brussels sprouts were cooked with bacon, so tasty enough, but very generic. The service is pleasant but not very attentive, not knowledgeable, with no sense of creating a vibe you’d want to return to. I miss Little Park! It’s a great location with lots of space, but there are so many other places in the neighborhood. Locals will come if the food, service, vibe improves. But there’s a long way to go. It could be like The Dutch or Bubby’s, given its menu, but it’s not. Or not yet.
MS. BRIANNA!!! She was the server to beat all. The food was yum, the place was really great, but nothing beats service like hers, especially as I chose the spot to take a friend for her birthday. For food, we had both deviled egg starters, the raw oysters (east and west coasts) with a delicious marinade or whatever it was called. The carrot soup starter was a special of the day, as was the chocolate mousse for dessert, both recommended by Brianna. AH. MAY. ZING!!! We didn't order mains, but the last time I was there I had the burger and Husband had the roast chicken and they were also delicious. I cannot star this place high enough.
The hostess that greeted me ruined the experience for me. I couldn’t get past it and didn’t enjoy at all.
