Grimaldi's Coney Island

When Grimaldi's opened on the north side of Surf Avenue alongside the chain restaurants moving into Coney Island, I had my reservations. After all, Totonno's, home to the best Neapolitan pizza in NYC, is right here. However, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Grimaldi's isn't flashy; it embodies the true spirit of Coney Island, honoring its history while exuding a fun, laid-back vibe. The pizza is quite good too. It's a thin-crust coal oven pizza, perfectly charred yet still pliable. The balance of sauce and cheese is just right, and they are generous with the toppings. Plus, having beer available is definitely a bonus. Overall, if the wait at Totonno's is too long or they happen to be closed, Grimaldi's is a solid alternative. It stands out as a cut above typical Brooklyn pizza, which already reigns as the best in the world.

If you're in the area, this restaurant is a must-visit. The pizza here is unlike anything I've ever tasted, and I haven't been able to find anything to compare it to since. It's delicious and doesn’t leave you with that heavy, stuffed feeling that often comes after eating a pizza.

Grimaldi's is truly fantastic! The service is always warm and welcoming, and their pizza is the best I’ve ever had in New York! They offer a variety of toppings to choose from (the pesto pizza is a personal favorite of mine!). I've visited on weekends a few times and had to wait in line, but it was always worth the wait! You definitely won’t regret going there.

It was a great experience, one of the young waiters talked to us about their fresh cheese they use on their pizzas which is delivered daily, brought us a big plate of it to taste. And gave us some history on Grimaldi's Pizza and restaurant. We we treated so well. A great New York experience on Pizza.
