Wantirna South Charcoal Chicken

We love charcoal chicken and salad for Sunday lunch and this place does not disappoint. The chicken is always hot and juicy and the salads fresh and tasty. The chips are crunchy and delicious. Can't fault the food or the service.

Ha ha that's pretty funny. cause on the same night in question I was there to .while waiting for my food I went for a walk with my daughter up and down the strip and this shop was the only shop with customers coming in and out. its the cleaners and most inviting shop on the strip and the renos look amazing .shopfitters did an incredible job. the food is delicious from the free range chickens they use to the chips .and yes Darren the yellow stuff that's on the chips is called chicken salt. u been there a dozen times ???? the food must be good .the salad display looks amazing, handmade on a daily bases. best thing that's happened to the shop because it was going downhill for such a long time. i have living in the area for 15 years and seen it from great to just average and now going back to great. all my neighbours and friends from the area go there at least once a week for dinner. never left disappointed.

I deliver soft drinks to food business all over Melbourne and from someone who has eaten at hundreds of take away shops I would have to say that wantirna south charcoal chickens is in the top 3 in Melbourne . I have to enter kitchens to deliver and store the drinks and I could tell you stories of some of the filth I see but it's a pleasure when you see a clean store where you can buy food and enjoy it .

We used to be regular customers of Wantirna South Charcoal Chicken with the previous owners and welcomed the new management and renovations of the shop as the decor was showing signs of ageing. The new owners while pleasant present charcoal chicken that is dry and horrible. We have tried them again and again -(about a dozen times) and each time have left disappointed. A naughty indulgence was chicken salt on the chips, but that has gone too.Serving sizes are good but as stated the quality has dropped. The shop was not kept clean - noted on a Friday night when the other takeaway shops were flat out - the 2 female staff were taking casually and watching the newly installed tv while the floors were messy. There were no customers in the shop.My son has been wanting the seafood salad (something he used to like from this shop) but he was not impressed and threw it out without finishing.Change is a good thing but that change needs to be for the better. Maybe the new management will get better as time goes but I think we'll stay away after being disappointed now too many times.

Good food that's well cooked but the staff are often rude to customers. Not sure why. There are several other food options available nearby if you want to do a progress meal
