The Wayside is renowned for its bread, and once you try it, you'll understand why. They offer a variety of breads, meals, locally sourced products, and takeaway pies. The bread is made using the original recipe from 1929, and it's absolutely DELICIOUS! View all feedback.
The food and service were fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, I just learned that they will be closing after this week. This is a significant loss for the community—and for me personally.
They pride themselves on using fresh, local ingredients and their homemade bread is incredible – honestly the best I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend trying anything on the menu, but I’ve personally loved the legendary BLT, the Reuben, the homemade bacon cheeseburger, the trout sandwich, and the homemade fries. They also offer local cuts of meat when available, local honey, homemade butters, and local ciders. The staff enhances the experience with their fun, inviting energy, and they’re always happy to share a joke. The customer service is exceptional, and their knowledge of food is impressive. There are restaurants that simply churn out good food, but this place truly understands the craft and presents show-stopping dishes. Whether you choose to dine in, take out, or enjoy the outdoor seating, you must not miss White's Wayside.
My family came here and ate outside at one of the shaded picnic tables in the field next to the restaurant. We were able to bring our dog which is always a plus and the food and service were great! I highly recommend the trout sandwich!
Burnt fries. Soggy burger. Live band close to tables. Microphone? Why? Conversation? No. Beware, refills aren't free
First, if you went here or anywhere during the Covid madness forget about it and give White's wayside another try. White's serve's high quality, locally sourced food in a relaxed and friendly manner. On our most recent trip out there for lunch we had the trout sandwiches. I've had several types of fish sandwiches but never trout. It's locally sourced as is most everything they serve. It was mild (as trout should be) but very tasty served on a fresh roll with remoulade sauce. Excellent! They have an assortment of freshly baked pies and desserts available as well as loaves of their famous bread. Located on a beautiful stretch of Rt. 250 a pleasant little ride from Churchville and Staunton.
