I heard about the legendary Christopher Made-Rite since I moved to Southern IL 30yrs.ago. I had my first visit today. Unfriendly, indifferent staff. The only good thing I can say about all the experience is that the cakes are homemade and worth a trip there. Also check cash or just!!! the most rude, acting like the chief of them all, loudly announced to listen to everyone.

The old school retro look of this place is what got my attention. The waitress was very kind, it was earlier in the day and it wasn?t very busy at all. I ordered the signature Maid-Rite sandwich and their version of loaded fries. I found the food to be very bland and lacking any real flavor. Probably would not return if I?m back in the area

We stumbled upon this lovely little gem and it was a delightful surprise. While the menu isn't extensive, the food was quite satisfying. If you find yourself near the Rend Lake area and are in the mood for a sandwich, I highly recommend making the trip to this place. It was definitely worth the drive!
