We dined there last week, and although they were quite busy, the staff did an outstanding job taking care of their customers. Excellent service and delicious food!
We stumbled upon this lovely little gem and it was a delightful surprise. While the menu isn't extensive, the food was quite satisfying. If you find yourself near the Rend Lake area and are in the mood for a sandwich, I highly recommend making the trip to this place. It was definitely worth the drive!
I've heard about the legendary Christopher Maid-Rite since I moved to Southern Illinois 30 years ago. I finally visited today. The staff were unfriendly and indifferent. The only positive was that the pies are homemade and definitely worth a visit. Also, they only accept cash or check—which the rudest employee, who acted like the boss, loudly announced to everyone nearby.
I spent $20 on two sandwiches and two drinks. This place is still a landmark that has been around since my childhood. It was nice to visit again.
I heard about the legendary Christopher Made-Rite since I moved to Southern IL 30yrs.ago. I had my first visit today. Unfriendly, indifferent staff. The only good thing I can say about all the experience is that the cakes are homemade and worth a trip there. Also check cash or just!!! the most rude, acting like the chief of them all, loudly announced to listen to everyone.
