I visited Broken to Breakfast in Christchurch and had the vegan French toast, which was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The menu featured several vegan items, and there were additional vegan options available for other dishes as well. The staff was very friendly, and the restaurant had a wonderfully relaxed ambiance. The photos on HC looked good, so I suggested we have lunch here. There was a surprising number of vegan options on both the menu and specials board. I knew I wanted the vegan Benedict $24) and we also ordered the Siam Galette $18.50). The Benny was pretty good, with lots of hollandaise. Do not judge the lack of atmosphere from outside in this little jewel..Food was delicious and great coffee. it was easy with the family .options for everyone!
Great food, I was impressed by the presentation and flavours. Highly recommended!

The galette, however, was not what I expected: basically potato and salad, neither interesting nor substantial. I had also had the Summer Toast there, which involved paying $19 for toast. To be fair it was tasty enough with the hummus and cherry tomatoes but not exactly huge. I do feel there is more to try here, so I’d give it another go.
I had trouble deciding, but ended up with the vegan Benedict. Delicious, and just the right size for breakfast. The vegan dishes in omni places are often unimaginative, but this place has some interesting things I haven’t tried before, like a kind of chickpea bread. Hoping to go back again before we leave Christchurch.
Took my boyfriend here for birthday breakfast and we loved it. Lots of vegan options on the menu which is always wonderful to see. I got the tofu benedict which was different to standard tofu benedicts, highly recommend that! Food did take a while to come despite being quiet, but we did visit in their very early days so could perhaps be due to that. I would certainly go back.
