What Tamae R doesn't like about Hilltop:
A Japanese room for 2 days in June. The first impression was outdated and insufficient funding to keep up with this old hotel. The coffee shop was very disappointing with stained chairs and lukewarm coffee. Japanese breakfast was ok, better than Western one. The retro showa-period decor and large room were nice but I won't stay here again for the price. View all feedback.
Loved staying at this hotel for the week. A truly unique and memorable experience.

Very classical and calm. I understand why so many famous writers, novelists and journalists are attracted by this place... the atmosphere. They have restaurants inside including Japanese cuisine, tempura, etc.
We visited the Hilltop Hotel in order to eat at the Tempura Restaurant. The hotel staff was very helpful for us in pointing us to the restaurant and calling us a taxi after our dinner. We absolutely loved the set menu tempura- each piece was made and presented to us one at a time. The perfect pace for enjoying fresh Tempura. Overall great hotel and restaurant.
The matcha parfait here in summer is amazing, it’s what people queue here for. The hotel name fonts bothers me it looks hip hop like the Hilltop Hoods of Australia
