The Dumb Bell
Menu
A comprehensive menu of The Dumb Bell from Chiltern featuring all 63 dishes and drinks can be found here on the menu.
In a charming countryside setting, this pub evokes a mix of experiences. While some guests enjoyed friendly service and acceptable meals, others were left disappointed by cold food and disheartened by the lackluster menu. Highlights include a lovely garden, cozy atmosphere, and commendable fish dishes, although consistency is a clear issue. Patrons appreciate the welcoming staff, and many remark on the exceptional Guinness. Despite some negative encounters and food quality concerns, others express a desire to return for the camaraderie and inviting ambiance. Overall, it's a place of contrasts, where service shines but the kitchen struggles to keep pace.

What Anonym dislikes about The Dumb Bell:
We had our end of the season presentation for our under 10's team at our house. Afterwards, we decided to go to the Dumb Bell for a drink. The kids enjoyed playing football in the garden while the adults had a good chat about life and the future of our children. This was my second time at the pub and I have only been for drinks both times. It is a nice pub with polite and helpful staff. I plan to stop by next time fo... View all feedback.
A Very comfortable local pub/restaurant with a brilliant menu and atmosphere along a country road. Truly in it's own world
We parked our camper van in their decent size car park and had a meal. As a vegetarian I was very pleasantly surprised at the range of dishes on offer really good for a pub very friendly and cosy style of pub full of friendly locals. Very reasonable and perfect for our stop over. Thanks.
Took my mum (85) for Sunday lunch and the Carvery was excellent Good choice of vegetables and the beef was medium (which is so often not the case) Service was friendly and efficient! Food very tasty Apple crumble a bit powdery and apples a bit hard but custard was delicious
A classic country pub hidden down the back lanes. A very warm welcome and very attentive service. A place to relax and feel comfortableThe choice of fish specials is amazing. On the first visit I had a whole sea bass, for the second visit I chose a whole sea bream from specials including whole trout and whole mackerel. An unpretentious gastropub with sensible prices sea bream was 12 pounds. Cooking was to a very good basic standard giving an enjoyable plate of food.
I organised a surprise 60th birthday party for my husband in the function room here. The staff were superb, I couldn't fault them. Big shout out particularly for Wendy who made sure everything was in place and Charlie who, on the night, made sure everything went smoothly. The food was good value for money and was served fresh and where applicable, hot! They also catered for vegetarian and gluten free (although gluten free was only sandwiches they were all freshly made). They were also very accommodating for us to bring our own cake and a selection of sweet jars and loads of decorations. Big bonus as well the drinks are not too expensive! Thank you so much for making this occasion really special. Highly recommended.
