Meng House - Chiltern
Meng House
Description
Nestled in a bustling neighborhood, this restaurant offers a varied experience that has left many patrons divided. While some diners rave about the fresh, delicious food and attentive service, others have reported disappointing hygiene standards, tiny portion sizes, and long waits, particularly during peak hours. The inconsistency seems to stem from a recent influx of takeaway orders that leave the restaurant overwhelmed. Guests have enjoyed flavorful dishes, like sweet and sour chicken and Singapore noodles, but issues such as inaccurate billing and poor service have prompted a call for improvement. Overall, this establishment's charm is marred by fluctuating quality.

I went on Friday night. steadfastly busy and placed my take order was said to take a place as there is a 45 minute waiting. so good. I am a bigger lady and two thin men waiting for her command. I was asked to leave and come back. the men were not. I came back to the right time to see that two slim ladies wait inside. I was asked to wait outside. when the service was polite, it felt discriminatory and I was very annoyed by him. eating was excellent as always.
Catered for ym wifes brithday family meal. 12 of us. No problems whatsoever. Food was prompt, plentiful and delicious. Certainly going back again soon.
Brilliant service and wonderful eating of this place! for years we are here, and ron is very helpful. we could not come in to get a small order (super cautious because of covid,) so called from the front and ron brought the card reader out to let us pay, and always offers great customer service!
The food at this restaurant used to be good, but the service, especially for takeout, was poor. I initially avoided it but decided to give it another try. When I called to place an order and asked how long it would take, they once again underestimated the wait time. The food used to be a good value and tasty, but now it is less so and more expensive. It seems like they don't care about the quality once they have you as a customer.
I used to frequent Meng House for dinner and takeaways regularly, but about three years ago, the quality started to decline. The aromatic duck in our takeaway was dry, burnt, and practically inedible on three separate occasions. As a result, we switched to Full Moon at Chalfont Station, who have consistently been great. However, when we tried to order from Full Moon tonight, they were closed for staff holidays. Thinking Meng House might have improved, we placed an order over the phone and confirmed it. When my husband went to collect the order 45 minutes later, as requested, they had no record of our order and said it would take at least another hour to prepare. It was already 8pm. This was incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. I regret giving them a second chance and will not be making that mistake again.
