The atmosphere upon entering was nice and the seating was comfortable. The food was served promptly and timed well. Our server was not rude, but lacked friendliness. It seemed like we were the last guests of the evening at 8pm, and I understand that the season is ending soon, but if I'm paying $67 for a steak, I expect it to be seasoned properly. However, the house butter was exceptional and deserves a star on its own.
This restaurant is fantastic for casual dining, both indoors and outdoors. Although their menu may be limited, there is surely something to satisfy your taste buds. The lively bar area offers delicious specialty cocktails that are simply delightful.
We were excited to sit outside under the lights and enjoy the atmosphere at this restaurant. Make a reservation with Resy. Everything Up-Island is BYOB, so this place is not a traditional tavern. We were surprised to find a $5 fee to rent a frosted beer glass for BYOB, in addition to the cork fee increasing from $12 to $14. Bread is available for an extra $6, but it was not tasty or warm. Despite having hungry children and waiting 45 minutes past our reservation time, there was no children's menu available. The menu was limited, there were no specials, and the service was lacking in hospitality. The food portions were small and not worth the high prices. We were disappointed by the lack of variety compared to previous visits. Additionally, a 25% gratuity is automatically added to parties of 5, and a 5% kitchen appreciation fee is included, which has impacted the service quality. Overall, the prices were too high, even for Martha's Vineyard standards.
We were a party of six and the biggest negative issue was an automatic 25% gratuity for parties of six or more plus 5% more for kitchen staff. Hey, just give them a 5% raise! As for the food, most of our party said the food was “good” but I was very disappointed with the pasta. Little spice or flavor, really bland, not enough sauce and had to ask for salt and parmesan. Came on a Monday night for a 5:30pm reservation with 3 girlfriends. We came on the early side because we wanted to watch the sunset on the beach after dinner. The dining room was pretty sparsely populated when we arrived but both the main dining room and the outdoor patio had filled up by the time we left at 6:45. Since it’s BYOB, we brought a bottle of wine and a bottle of batched Negronis which our waitress quickly brought out glasses for and served. For dinner we started with the bread, special cheese starter and summer squash. I thought that the squash was really exceptional. For my main course I ordered the half chicken. It came with a side salad and was crispy, juicy and delicious. Two of my girlfriends got the chicken pot pie and said it was one of the best they ever had. The Buffalo Brussels were also on point. The food here felt like having a great home cooked meal. Looking forward to coming back!
