However,... read more We go here occasionally because of the awesome location and the great lake views. If the weather is not in your favour, there is ample seating inside. However, Il Cavallo (as the implies) is right next to the indoor riding hall and that is not to everybody's liking. Il Cavallo offers different kinds of seasonal specials. We opted for an antipasti platter and a Knödel dish, both of which were nicely presented and very tasty. However, this was the night of football match and a "conference" room had been set up for a fan viewing. Service was OK, considering how many people came to watch. But charging EUR 6.20 for a bottle of water???

Then it took 30 min to get our drinks. 60 min to get the first food on the table. 90 min to have our main course. The food itself was okay, but execution was terrible. It was obvious that the team was disorganized and chaotic. The views are nice, though. Avoid when you are hungry or have an important date.

The beef carpaccio with arugula and mushrooms as a started tasted also great.Service and in my case quality of pasta can be improved. Why is it necessary to be served by what felt like 15 different waitresses? My pasta had obviously been waiting under the heat lamp until my friends pizza was ready and hence it arrived at the table being totally dry on the top. As i told the staff they offered me a free dessert, which was a very nice gesture. My choice was taken, yet what was delivered was not what had been described in the menu. I enquired on what had been brought to me and the waitress said " oh, don't know. This is my third day here" Anyway, they made up for that again, yet insisted that the dessert did contain all it meant to contain (and an additional heap of cream)To cut a long story short.... The location is beautiful and the view over the sea is stunning. The restaurant could do sooooo much better with more professional service. After all it is not about being served free 'replacements', but rather about feeling welcome and being served what is described.

When we arrived, 3 tables were reserved and... read more We had reserved a table outside on the terrace for Saturday. If the weather is nice, it's better to reserve a table. When we arrived, 3 tables were reserved and were in the shade. The extremely polite service immediately allowed us to set the table in the sun, brought high chairs for the children and, as I heard, picked up the drinks first. Advice was excellent! First we ate an Italian starter, which was beautifully presented to the eye. Tastes wonderful! For the main course we chose 4 different pizzas and shared them, one of which tasted better than the other. Italian flair on the plate! The very attentive service recommended a Lugana white wine with our meal. The price-performance ratio is well maintained, but is immediately recommended for imitation. We were very refreshed and even took some pizza home with us. At the very end there was an Italian espresso. The view of Lake Chiemsee gave the adults a wonderful view. The children watched the show jumping training and were entertained for a while. We'll be back! It was simply a completely successful stay at the Cavallo.
