What Heather Dunmoyer doesn't like about The Foodie Cafe:
So it's a unique restaurant with a wide menu and while I like it, I always leave feeling ripped off. Ended up paying $70 for 2 adults and 2 kids splitting a kids meal. $11 for the kids Mac and cheese that was in the tiniest glass jar. I thought they had split it for me and waited for the next one, it was so small. I am still in disbelief. I originally thought they charged me the kids menu price of $8 which was alread... I was honestly hoping with a name like the foodie they would have more gluten free options. I was kinda disappointed that the white Russian milkshake it was made with blended ice vs ice cream like a real milkshake, the inconsistency of it(having the ice chunks), made it unenjoyable. My friend got the banana cream pie milkshake and it was thick, creamy, smooth, and devine. The fries are coated so not gluten free. They aren't a scratch made kitchen so they can't do gluten free donuts to add to the shakes either. Glad they had gluten free bread options we had the BLTs which were good. Ambiance of the place was cool, with a cute outdoor area for games.

One of Chico 's greatest restaurants, hands down.I was tipped off to this place by a friend. Chico is a large city with myriad restaurants many of them being chains so I always welcome the opportunity to try a new to me, locally owned spot. The Foodie Cafe did not disappoint. The venue is in a large, newer business plaza, situated in the center of town with east freeway access. While the location is central, it feels as though it 's off in its own little world, tucked away from the street. The location within the plaza is serene as it faces a large outdoor fountain. There is ample seating both indoor and out. I enjoy dining al fresco if the weather isn 't too severe. The first time I dined here was to celebrate the closing of my first home. It 's a casual establishment but elegant enough to be considered a spot to ring in a milestone. Right off the bat, I was impressed by the professionalism of my waitress. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and checked in on me often. I also witnessed the owner checking in on tables and ensuring that all were taken care of. You don 't see this level of service often, so I was impressed. No complaints whatsoever. The menu was impressive, and I honestly wanted to order one of everything. Because this was a special occasion for me, I set my diet restrictions aside and opted to go all in with their impressive menu items. I ordered a boozy milkshake (an item the restaurant is known for) along with their meatloaf entree with the million dollar scalloped potatoes.I can 't begin to describe how flavorful the items were. The flavors were so complex yet worked so well. I wanted to scarf it all down but also wanted to savor every delicious bite. I left very satisfied.Major kudos to the staff and management of this amazing local restaurant. You have earned yourselves a loyal customer. I can 't wait to dine here again.
Wonderful, locally-owned restaurant. There’s really nothing like it in town. Family-friendly atmosphere with superb service and the greatest, “over-the-top” menu. I love how original all of their items are. I feel that the staff work hard to make it a special and unique experience for every diner. It’s a special treat when Boyd, the owner, comes by the table to sat hello and check in. I feel valued as a customer whenever I come here. Five stars!
One of Chico's hidden gems. If not for our friends who took us there 2 months ago we might have never tried the place. We ended up coming back 3 times so far because it just a perfect place to reconnect with friends. The American cuisine with a twist is beyond reproach, service is excellent, the setting, strangely, has echos of Florence without the noise, crowds, and exhaust. The tables outside are generously spaced out, with enough room even for our Great Dane. The surrounding brick and an impressive fountain don't hurt either. If you are looking for an outdoor lunch or early dinner, in a quiet and a laid-back atmosphere, with great American food at reasonable prices, Foodies is hard to beat.
