Nash's - Chico
Nash's
Description
Nash's restaurant offers a blend of fine dining and casual comfort, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating. While many patrons rave about the lunches and standout dishes like eggs Benedict, a few breakfast items have left guests disappointed, particularly with soggy chilaquiles and raw French toast. Service inconsistencies have been noted, especially during busy times, leading to long waits for both food and checks. Overall, the inviting ambiance and parking availability make it a place worth revisiting, despite some setbacks with menu items and staffing challenges.

My family has attended Nash's several times now. We think the lunches are phenomenal. We have always had a really nice experience when we ate here. However, the reason for the 4 stars is due to our most recent experience. We finally made it for breakfast and my wife was super excited to try out their French toast. She could only eat 2 bites it was just terrible and raw. The strawberry shortcake mimosas we both agreed were not good at all. And it made everything so much worse that we had to get up and grab extra napkins because our server never checked on us once. Not to see if we needed anything or how things were, nothing. I am hoping that was just a one time experience and next time it will be the great Nash's we are accustomed to. BTW ... The mini breakfast chorizo tacos are ????
This brunch spot is absolutely beautiful and has quickly become my favorite place to eat in Chico! I tried the bay shrimp omelette, and it was delicious!
As for kid-friendliness, they provide high chairs and booster seats, and we received a handy small cup with a straw for our child. Although there wasn't a kids' menu offered, it was the middle of the day, so that might have influenced this.
Overall a good experience hindered by a couple of big missteps. The venue itself is very pretty. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking along the Esplanade too. Ordered the eggs Benedict which I must say was one of the best Ive ever had. The yolks were creamy and the hollandaise delightful. The hash browns were incredibly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Would certainly have again. Biggest issue: service. While getting a refill of an incredibly burnt and watery house coffee, our server poured over our table, nearly spilling on me and my partner. Mind you the coffee is really hot, but the server both didn't seem to notice, nor offer to get us napkins (we had to as a completely separate server). Not sure if understaffed or what, but it is an experience that certainly was notable. The biggest issue is the coffee. Somehow it is both watery and burnt (think a la Croix flavor). I don't know if maybe the pot had too few grounds, or if they are reusing grounds, but I certainly wouldn't order their coffee again.
