Description

Nestled in Chicago's River North, Xoco offers an enticing blend of flavorful Mexican dishes at reasonable prices. Diners rave about the rich tortilla soup, vibrant guacamole, and fulfilling tortas, particularly the Carne Asada and Pepito. While options like the spicy chicken churro sandwich and margaritas receive high marks, some found certain dishes, such as churros, a tad too sweet. Despite minor service fluctuations—such as varying wait times—most patrons appreciate the attentive staff. With a cozy atmosphere and a diverse menu, Xoco stands out as a promising choice for satisfying cravings for bold, authentic Mexican cuisine.

It’s a shame the people who prepared my food on Saturday 02/14/2026 have no respect for their craft nor for Rick Bayless. I ordered the Goat Torta Special and got extremely sick. At $18 a Torta I expect quality not food poisoning. What a shame, truly. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Xoco by Ryck Bayless feels like a place you find in Mexico City!! From the entrance, you are welcomed by the wonderful people working there!! Everyone is friendly and attentive, creating an authentic atmosphere!! We went during the happy hour, and everything looked incredible! We ordered chorizo con papas tacos, and they were superb!! The queso fundido was good, but the churros were to die for!! I totally recommend Xoco, especially to take advantage of their happy hour menu, which is well-priced!! I hope to come back another time to try the rest of the menu!! Meal type: Other Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The place was average, nothing too great about the food. We ordered the tacos and eggplant sandwich. The churros were warmand delicious, but with a lot of sugar. I wish they added cinnamon. The chocolate sauce with churros was perfect.
