our excellent waiter, cinnamon, recommended the muscheln appetizer. she said it was enough for one to escape, and she was right. the cuddles were medium, sweet and super fresh. the saffron-based broth was perfectly seasoned. kim also recommended the watermelon gazpacho. I'm usually not a fan of cold suppe, but I had a taste and it was delicious. her keilsalat also looked good. what is a meal without dessert? at the g... View all feedback.
Great service! We sat at the bar. I would highly recommend the wedge salad and split it for two people. Love the trout and greens beans! Very yummy!!!!!
Delicious! The food and presentation were absolutely top rate. The ambiance was pleasant and added to the sensory experience. Luis at the bar provided exemplary service and was wonderful with his mixology skills. The old fashioned was divine and the happy hour menu was well thought out. I would certainly recommend The Gage without hesitation!
The Gage is a true gem in Chicago. The elegant ambience, delicious food, and attention made for a memorable evening. We enjoyed the tuna tartare, mussels, and Bibb salad. The trout and snapper are also must-tries. The top-notch service adds to the overall enjoyment.
Love the vibes and ambiance of this place and the fish and chips were delicious and not overly battered and maintained its crispiness. Reminded me of fish and chips I got in Iceland. Highly recommend!
We made reservations because our party was over 10 people, to which we included children as we had 4 under 18. Upon arriving, we were seated in the bar. In the bar area with children? We asked for high chairs as we needed them for the 3 toddlers, we were told that a certain part of the bar could not be blocked so we couldn 't have one. You all sat us here but then told us we cant have a high chair.. ok lol. We were never introduced to a server, rather, we had several servers come and assist us. Which was no big deal but it would have been nice to know who exactly our server was. Once we had just the one server assisting us, she did not tell us any specials or anything. She had an attitude with us all so I just looked at what I wanted in a rush and ordered. Every time someone asked her a question she was short and sharp. This was our first time at this restaurant and some people had questions, she clearly did not want to answer them. We ordered our food and there was absolutely no flavor in any food, like not even salt and pepper. There was four orders of the fish and chips, the only thing you could taste was the tartar sauce. I had a virgin Shirley temple and that was delicious but outside of this, everything else was very much bland. It was time to pay now as we did not order deserts. She came with the check and we asked if we could split, she said AND I QUOTE I don 't have time to do that. Not, 'the policy is if there are (x amount in the party) there is one check ', but simply she did not have time for is so to us this means she did not want to do it. Now I want to add, this is not our first time at a restaurant. Usually the server expresses in the beginning about how the bill will be handled, tells us their name and offers water etc.. she did none of this, she was the exact opposite. If the food was good, it would have made up for her rudeness but it did not. We were so excited to come here and it was nothing but a disappointment.
