This iconic room does not have the excitement it used to when it was the Pump Room (the most recent incarnation), but it is still a very calming, comfortable space. We happen to be there on a Wednesday night with terrible weather out, so there were only a couple tables, but the food was fantastic. 3 Hummus platter (the spicy hummus was spot on), the chicken and burger all delicious. Both the house specialty Manhattan... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ambassador Room:
We made a reservation for brunch at the restaurant, but were instead seated in the hotel lobby. While the change of setting could have been enjoyable, the food was just mediocre. The croissants tasted like they were frozen and then microwaved, the orange juice was made from concentrate, and the coffee was quite weak. Honestly, I think we would have had a better and more affordable breakfast at One. View all feedback.
The dining room, which is usually adorned with lovely lights, was unexpectedly closed without any prior notice. Instead, they had set up tables next to a curtain in the space between the bar and what is typically the dining area. There was only one other couple there, making the atmosphere extremely dead and quiet. It was quite dull! We decided to stay for a glass of wine while we looked for another place to dine. Unfortunately, the bartender was not attentive and seemed more focused on their phone. I cannot recommend this place.
On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and did her best to accommodate us, but even with her efforts, we wouldn't consider returning. They did offer a discount on the food to acknowledge the poor service, but it didn't truly compensate for our experience. The food was good and served hot, though the menu was limited, which we were aware of before arriving.
I expected a true Thanksgiving Feast, but sadly, it fell short. While the staff was friendly, the atmosphere lacked any sense of festivity. Additionally, I must emphasize that this restaurant is not suitable for individuals with limited mobility. Being located in an old building, they've made some improvements, but my husband, who uses a walker, had to navigate two different elevators just to reach the restroom, one of which required assistance from the staff. I understand that senior staff deserved the day off, but if that's the case, the restaurant shouldn't have advertised a Thanksgiving Feast. Thanksgiving is all about the food experience, and we were left quite disappointed.
Good food and relaxing atmosphere. Not sure what happened but Waiter made a lot of noise setting up the table toward end of our meal throwing dishes on the table surprising to see at such an iconic establishment
This newest iteration of an iconic restaurant inside the venerable Ambassador Hotel is off to a good start. We needed an early dinner before the opera so when we arrived the bar was far busier than the restaurant, but the service was friendly and attentive, the food arrived promptly and was delicious and perfectly cooked. As a bonus, although the bar was full, the noise level was very tolerable. We'll definitely be adding it to our list of local favorites.
