**Discovering Sumo Sushi and Hibachi: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**

At Sumo Sushi and Hibachi, diners encounter a blend of delightful flavors and perplexing service. Many appreciate the flavor-packed hibachi dishes and fresh sushi, complemented by the option to bring your own beverages. However, some guests noted uncomfortable service dynamics, with servers hovering too closely, creating a rushed ambiance. While ratings vary—from enthusiastic praises for the high quality and generous portions to more lukewarm impressions of the sushi's appeal—the restaurant remains a go-to spot for those seeking decent Japanese fare in a lively setting. Overall, Sumo Sushi and Hibachi delivers an experience that leaves guests craving more… or simply confused.

I ordered hibachi combo and spicy tuna roll on Uber Eats and it was great! Good portion sizes and quality sushi. Everything was packaged really well and fresh! I wish the fried rice had a bit more flavor but other than that, great takeout option! Service: Takeaway Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A group of us went to Sumo Sushi and Hibachi after a long day of conferences and enjoyed every minute we spent there! I’m not a sushi/fish person, but the others in my group are and they loved everything they ordered. I did the chicken and steak hibachi combo along with the spring rolls and I thought all of it was delicious! Our server, Wesley, was super helpful and kind! Such a great experience during our stay and would go again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This place literally saved my life during the pandemic. Don’t ever let them go out of business. Ellen is the BEST. I mean, just look at the food. If you’re looking for hibachi, in the city, this is the spot. Stay away from the overpriced Benihana stuff — call Sumo right away!

Just moved back to Lakeview after 5 years away (1/2 year spent living in Japan. Was craving sushi tonight, so I ordered the “Sashimi Regular” chef's choice plate and a side of “tsukemono” (pickled veggies. It was an absolute delight!! Below is a photo taken after trying 1 pc of each I mean look at those thick cuts of sashimi! The white fish melted in my mouth like butter. The salmon was fatty and so delicious. The tuna was equally tender and tasty. And the other two types of fish were both … – show
