Some of the worst Asian food I’ve had in Chicago. No sauce, no flavor, nothing. Food: 1 Service: Takeaway Meal type: Lunch
Serai has okay food, the laksa soup wasn’t warm and noodles in it tasted like they sat in the soup too long. Otherwise the taste was good. Enjoyed the lamb rendang and the curry chicken appetizer. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: $50–100
My friends from out of town wanted to check this place out so we came on a Saturday around 6:30pm. We were able to grab a table for 6 people outside. Sounds like the indoor seats are all reserved. We ordered the Serai Curry Laksa, beef rendang, nasigoreng, Hainanese chicken, sambal shrimp. We LOVED everything except the shrimp. I can’t eat spicy food and the curry laksahad a kick to it but it was tolerable for me. The bowl of rice that came out with the Hainanese chicken was also delicious! Willdefinitely come back to try the other dishes!
The cocktails were priced between $10 and $13 and offered unique combinations that we hadn't encountered before. The staff was extremely friendly, and I truly appreciated the effort our server put in to ensure I had appropriate options. When one of our appetizers arrived and was not vegan, they quickly took it back and had it remade for me. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience!
