Description

Overall, the restaurant received mixed reviews. Some customers complained about slow service, improperly cooked food, and mediocre dishes. Despite these issues, others praised the delicious guacamole, good service, and generous portions. The outdoor dining experience was pleasant, and the atmosphere was described as fun. While some guests enjoyed the river view and tasty food, others felt the menu was somewhat limited and the prices were a bit high. It seems that the restaurant's quality and experience may vary depending on individual preferences and expectations.

Beautiful spot on the Chicago River. We came in as a group of ten and found the food and the service to all be top notch! The roast chicken, pork, and fish were all a huge hit for shared entree?s but don?t sleep on all the amazing appetizers and sides!

Eating on the Chicago River is a delightful experience. I chose to grab lunch on one of the hottest days of the year at River Roast. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Beware: the portion sizes are very large. The RR Chopped salad with chicken ispacked with flavor and a fun array of accompanying vegetables. However, I felt like I was eating an entire bag of roman salad...I paired the salad with the asparagus. It was delicious, but again, I feel like I was given two bushels of asparagus. Fordessert, I ordered the key lime pie. The slice was a super size me size, it was bigger than my hand.

We enjoyed brunch with River Roast. Food is pretty good, lox and bagel tasted great, baked French toast was far too sweet, eggs Benedict were fine. Disappointed the runner did not know the cheeses or the meats on the charcuterie board. Bloody Mary cocktails were only adequate. We ate indoors because it was raining. The room is attractive, though a little loud. Accessibility Alert: There was a person with a walker in another dining group. She was unable to find an elevator and getting down the stairs was a challenge. We searched for the elevator, to no avail. If there is one, we couldn’t locate it and there was no staff in street level lobby to help.

ASK FOR JIMMY My wife and I came to Chicago to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary. While walking along the river, we stopped on a bridge and noticed a cat nearby naturally, we couldn’t help but give it some attention. That little moment led us to walk into River Roast, where we decided to sit down for a coffee. From the moment we sat down, our experience was elevated by our beyond amazing server, Jimmy. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care set the absolute gold standard for what a server should be. I’ve been to multiple five-star restaurants, and honestly, Jimmy makes many of those servers look like newbies. Ernesto, the manager, was also fantastic. He reassured us that the cat is well taken care of and made it clear that River Roast truly puts customers first. If you’re visiting Chicago or even if you’re local do yourself a favor and come to River Roast. Ask for Jimmy, and you’ll receive nothing short of the best treatment and an unforgettable experience. To the owners and leadership team: employees like Jimmy and Ernesto are the reason guests come back and tell stories like this. They represent your brand at the highest level and deserve recognition, appreciation, and yes A RAISE. Talent like this is invaluable. Great place for brunch !! Big portions, tasty and a very nice river view. We went for brunch and ended up very satisfied until late evening. I think it’s kind of a tourist trap though, because it’s expensive for what you get. I found the menu somewhatlimited, but once you decide you probably made a good choice.
