While the food is neither authentic nor gourmet, it is quite tasty and well prepared. Service is good and portions are generous. It's a fun environment.

While walking along the river, we stopped on a bridge and noticed a cat nearby naturally, we couldn’t help but give it some attention. That little moment led us to walk into River Roast, where we decided to sit down for a coffee. From the moment we sat down, our experience was elevated by our beyond amazing server, Jimmy. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care set the absolute gold standard for what a server should be. I’ve been to multiple five-star restaurants, and honestly, Jimmy makes many of those servers look like newbies. Ernesto, the manager, was also fantastic. He reassured us that the cat is well taken care of and made it clear that River Roast truly puts customers first. If you’re visiting Chicago or even if you’re local do yourself a favor and come to River Roast. Ask for Jimmy, and you’ll receive nothing short of the best treatment and an unforgettable experience. To the owners and leadership team: employees like Jimmy and Ernesto are the reason guests come back and tell stories like this. Big portions, tasty and a very nice river view. We went for brunch and ended up very satisfied until late evening. I think it’s kind of a tourist trap though, because it’s expensive for what you get. I found the menu somewhatlimited, but once you decide you probably made a good choice.
