Reviews summary

At this family-run Vietnamese spot the pho is widely praised for rich, authentic broth, generous portions and vegan options, while traditional decor and quick service at times create a warmly authentic atmosphere. However, inconsistent service, occasional shortages of herbs or ingredients, payment quirks, and iced-coffee/portion issues leave some patrons wary. Reasonably priced and kid-friendly, the restaurant delights many but needs tighter quality control and more responsive staff to fully match its flavorful food.

Was Peter M at Phở Năm Lúa a mag?

This is a very welcoming, family-owned restaurant that serves generous portions and offers several vegan options. It's been recommended by Steve Dolinsky, which guarantees its quality! The photo showcases the "Vegetarian Soup." Overall, I give the food a rating of 5 out of 5. View all feedback.

What Inae Lee dislikes about Phở Năm Lúa:

They've changed! Perhaps there's a new chef? We've been loyal customers since they opened and never considered going anywhere else for pho because their broth was exceptional and the portions were generous. However, our recent visits have all been disappointing, with dishes being overly salty, noodles overcooked, and the service lacking. It's really sad, but now we need to look for a new place. This restaurant is doing an amazing job! I'm not an expert, but the two dishes I ordered for my girlfriend and me were among the best Vietnamese food we've ever tasted. The staff was extremely friendly, and we will definitely be returning!

First of all, pho was delicious and the ox tail added a nice twist to it. That being said, the service was just terrible. We tried to ignore some things like a disgusting hair coming out of our bowl, but the service is just bad. Only one person spoke English which made it hard to make customizations to your order and even though we were there around 7:40 pm, they didn’t have cilantro, green onion and meatballs, but they still charged the full price even though the pho was missing some key ingred … – show

Originally set out to get take-out, but a table opened up, so we dined in. Food was hot and tasty; unfortunately, they served it in very flimsy/cheap paper plates. Service was decent too. Huge portions of food, so be prepared to take some home with you! Pricing was decent too. Just be aware, it's a small place, and the tables fill up fast.

Delicious pho with excellent flavor! The portions are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable. A hidden gem!

My family and I have been coming for years but recently the experience left much to be desired. We arrived lunch time during full house which was exciting for us to see. We sat down only to be left alone for 12 minutes waiting for a waitress or waiter to come take our order. Even the table who came after us ended up ordering and then receiving their food before us.When we received our first dish the spring rolls, they looked tasty but was not filled with much of anything as we expected herbs and such. The wrapper was also tough seemingly left in the fridge. Our Pho came out and we were happy to see the quantity of food even though it was a small. The broth itself was much sweeter than what we normally experienced. The tendons were tough and borderline inedible. Everything else was fine. We did enjoy the texture of the noodles because in other Viet restaurants, the noodles are usually overcooked. The last dish that came out was the water spinach. The first few bites were fine but after the dish cooled, you could taste the sweetness in the sauce and we could barely eat half of it.Price wise, it was okay with each bowl of noodles costing only $12 before tax. Spring rolls only 4.50, but the veggies were $15! Remember to go up to the cashier to pay because they won’t come to your table. In addition to that, when we attempted to pay, we were almost overcharged by $30. Luckily I checked the machine before tapping my card. Also, be aware of the tipping. They have buttons and one is even set at 30%. If they had come over and asked how the food was or even bothered to offer water I would have considered.Truly disappointed from our most recent experience and hope they get it together because we have had some nice times at this location.Grade : B

Their PHO is good and fresh especially Pho Ga (chicken). Bun BO Hue (spicy Hue style noodle) is awesomely good. I also love their ice coffee, however I dnt think it’s made to order but probably pre dripped. We’ve been coming here at least twice a month for years and love them. The friendly, enthusiastic waitress Trang is always happy to greet customers. The only complaint I have after Covid is that they do NOT give water of any kinds. You have to buy their bottle waters for $1/each which is not expensive at all but water is not something I want to pay at a restaurant.
