I absolutely love this place for their amazing sandwiches! While they have a variety of breakfast items and salads, I usually stick to their sandwiches. My favorites are the Oaxacan Pork and the Turkey Turkey. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it!
Panes Bread Cafe is a true gem. If you find yourself in the Lakeview neighborhood, make sure to treat yourself to breakfast or lunch here. Their omelettes and sandwiches are absolutely delicious, and the bread is incredibly fresh. They accept both cash and credit cards, making it convenient for everyone. The meals are not only tasty but also very affordable. I highly recommend this place!
Fantastic atmosphere! The food is incredible, and I particularly enjoy their daily specials. The Sandwich Special #1 is a must-try! They’re quick with orders and have never made a mistake with my takeout. And definitely save room for dessert! The Monster Cookies always put a smile on my face. You’ve got to give it a try!
I wanted to love this place. Quaint neighborhood restaurant that has been around a long time. From the foot traffic, they clearly have their local fans. The bread, as advertised, was great. My sandwich was pretty pedestrian otherwise. We also got a cheese bread appetizer that I thought was fine but not great. Service was good and for most of the time we were there, it was just our party of 3 in the small dining room. Average is not bad. I would go back.
Honestly? I haven't been here or even lived in Chicago since september 2016. That said, the menu is identical and the pictures of recent orders look identical, so im reasonably confident it's the same. It's been almost 8 years since I've eaten here and I *still* regularly think about how good it is haha. Every time anyone I know goes to Chicago, no matter how far, I tell then they have to stop here. The sandwiches, the soup, the goat cheese crostini!! I dream of it.Panes, you should franchise so I can get your deliciousness back in my life. Was just talking to my husband tonight, and favorite food places throughout the country came up, and he pointed out that if again- its been nearly 8 years- and I still am THIS obsessed, yall probably deserve at least a review. Thanks for the great vibes and the greater food. Can't recommend highly enough.
