Book the architecture cruise to celebrate our 24th anniversary. On board we were led to our table decorated with a rose-blooded heart that was a beautiful touch. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the architectural comment was both informative and humorous. We had a wonderful time and felt very special. 100% recommend this cruise!!! What User doesn't like about Odyssey Cruises Chicago River:
It’s worth noting that their website takes bookings through third-party providers like OpenTable. When I spoke to their representatives, they seemed unable to address the issue and claimed it was beyond their control. This is not how good customer service operates. Honestly, if it weren't for the wonderful staff member that night, it would have been a completely disastrous experience. While the view was nice, the foo... View all feedback.
The bread was really hard, the ravioli was a little under done, but the flavor was great. The waitress Heather was so great and the experience was the best. We have done a few other boat rides by the same company and this was by far the best. Blake was very polite and friendly. He made sure to keep our water glasses full.
Navigating to the boarding location was a bit tricky, as the directions were not very clear and there was a lack of signage indicating where to find the stairs. We arrived at the specified address, which is a University of Chicago Graham School building, and searched for the nearest staircase down to the boarding area. Once on board, we were greeted with a complimentary drink and had access to a buffet. The spread consisted mainly of snacks and finger foods, including cheese and crackers, hummus, nuts, mini meatballs, veggie sliders, a spicy broccoli dish, and a selection of passed hors d'oeuvres. For dessert, we enjoyed fresh fruit and a small pastry station. It was lovely to be out on the water, breathing in the fresh air. The bartenders and waitstaff were exceptional, making for a truly enjoyable afternoon.
This is the worst experience for a cruise on the chicago River. They cancel reservations at the last minute, because they probably don't have a crew. Were they help to serve meals. Very unfortunate when people come from out of town thinking they're going to be on a cruise and see what happens when Mon takes over as a guide to how they do their business. I would not recommend this to anyone anyone. If you're looking for an excellent cruise on the Chicago river with great hospitality, wonderful people for crew please see the fire boat cruise. It gives an excellent description of Chicago's superior architecture.
Don't waste your money on this overpriced boat ride. We paid $500 plus for 3 people. We paid extra for window seats and four drink tickets. I've been on dinner cruises before so I was expecting a wonderful meal, excellent service and beautiful boat. The views were nice, but I could have sat on a rooftop for less. Or I could have rented a personal smaller boat.1) The boat was rinky dink. Old supplies and rusting kitchen equipment was out in the open. The floors and windows looked dirty. I wore heels and I was constantly worried about tripping on the small ladder leading to the roof.2) The atmosphere was lame. The music was pretty boring. There's no music playing outside the boat so it's really quiet. There was dancefloor, but no DJ? We also went on a Thursday.3) Our waiter was ok, but the rest of the staff was slightly rude and unprofessional.4) Everything is a buffet which kind of sucked. I've paid less on dinner cruises where the staff served us. We were able to get in line first. But everyone else had to wait in a long line, staring at us while we ate.5) The drinks were ok. But even though we paid for the drink tickets, we couldn't get anything off the menu. Just regular bar drinks.Don't waste your time or money! The 90-minute Architecture tour is better!
I’m giving this experience one star. We spent around $300 only to have our cruise canceled, and no one bothered to inform us; we had to inquire with other ships ourselves. They ended up putting us on a completely different ship with a different menu than what we had anticipated, and it wasn’t the buffet we expected. However, I do want to mention that the waiter provided excellent service.
