NoMI Kitchen - Chicago
NoMI Kitchen
Description
Nomi used to be a favorite spot, but recent experiences left diners underwhelmed. Despite issues with sushi quality, service, and ambiance, there were still positive remarks about the staff, food, and ambiance at Nomi Garden. The bittersweet visit highlighted the impact of Covid on the restaurant industry, with concerns about cash reserves and limited menu choices. On a more positive note, a visit to Nora's in Dallas left a couple delighted with the food, service, and surprises for their anniversary. Lastly, a diner praised Nomi's breakfast, cocktails, and high-quality sushi, along with a relaxed ambiance and great service. Both Nora's and Nomi concluded with recommendations for others to visit these establishments.

Our most recent visit to Nomi was bittersweet. It's a neighborhood favorite of ours. But it is rooftop, outdoors and November in Chicago. It is located in a hotel, which is very low in occupants. This was a celebration and a chance to say see you later.....The fabulous bartender/server (he did it all! let us know that they were low on bar supplies and menu choices. No problem! We had the fabulous, reliable Nomi burger. It was perfect as always. As Covid numbers rise and restaurants are shut down to indoor eating, we are sad to see winter approaching. See you as soon as the weather improves and may we all be healthy and ready for a lovely night out.
Awesome staff! Very hospitable! They moved us into another room at our request for our anniversary! We returned for breakfast and it was just as awesome!
For years, I have made NoMi a treasured spot for breakfast with friends to celebrate birthdays, but Sunday when I took my husband for the first time, it was SO disappointing. I didn't realize it was going to be such an impoverished experience. I know it is because of COVID that they have shut down their beautiful windowed room. We had a simple wooden table with a below average view of windows at the Peninsula. The food was like a Starbucks breakfast and the waiter overcharged me $10 on the bill. I hope this sad situation can return to its' beautiful self one day.
The perfect spot for a milestone lunch! We had a wonderful time at NoMI last Monday. The staff was professional, warm, and incredibly helpful with a special request I had for a 40th birthday. If you’re looking for a refined lunch with top-tier service, this is it. Price per person: $30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Not sure
Seemingly uninspired and lacking a clear vision. There are beautiful views of Chicago, but that’s about it. The service left a lot to be desired as well. Pictured is their restaurant week menu. The first course was their “soup,” followed by a pork loin and some prawns. The pork loin tasted like something your mom makes on a busy day. Salt and pepper on a shrink-wrapped pork loin, straight into the oven. Nothing memorable, nothing elevated, and definitely not worth the hype.
