Good quality family style food, friendly service that is fast unless very busy, small cozy diner
I feel like this is the last affordable diner in chicago. please support this place! it's the true diner experience with the atmosphere and penny making your food. it's the perfect place for when you just need someone to make you a simple breakfast for cheap. and you can customize however you want- penny is happy to cook your bacon crispy or chewy, etc. feels casual and warm like having your mom make you breakfast. parking is easy too.
As far as Chicago diners go, you’re not going to find more bang for your buck than New Delta. For starters, the prices are super reasonable — literally half of what you would be paying at a place like Gold Nugget or Huddle House, for food that is twice as good and made with love. The service is excellent — warm and inviting. Penny is like everybody’s mom, she’s so friendly and easy to talk to. I always leave here feeling warm in both my belly and my heart. If you were to hold me down and force me to come up with a criticism for the place, it would just be that it gets a little toasty inside, but I’d gladly brave the heat to come here any day. Chicago needs places like New Delta the way one needs shelter during a thunderstorm.
I went here for lunch. I had the BLT Deluxe. The BLT was very good. The tater tots were like any other tater tot. I was also given some fries, I really liked them, they were seasoned just right. I also had the vegetable soup, it was excellent. There people were super friendly. The inside is all about the diner look. It was clean. I will return again. Bicycling: The street wouldn't be the best to cycle on, but there are enough nearby side streets to safely ride. They don't have outdoor seating.
