Reviews summary

The restaurant in question offers a modern and inventive cuisine tapas-style experience, with a small and cozy atmosphere. However, some guests felt that the prices were too high for the small portions served. The menu is heavy on butter and cheese, which may not be suitable for those with dietary restrictions. On the bright side, the staff is knowledgeable and attentive, and the food is interesting, tasty, and well presented. Overall, the restaurant seems to have mixed reviews, ranging from disappointing experiences due to limited menu options and intrusive management to positive experiences with delicious dishes and good service.

Best Spanish Food in the city by far. Highly reccomend the albondigas, meatballs are scrumptious. Also if you looking for good sangria, this is the best I’ve had outside of Madrid. Will be coming back View all feedback.

What Marcel Obšut dislikes about Mfk:

Terrible service and food. Our waiter was extremely rude, and I definitely do not recommend this place! It's way too small and dimly lit, and the staff is unprofessional. View all feedback.

My friends and I had a craving for steamed seafood and this place didn't disappoint. I've been to a place similar to mfk. restaurant where they steam fresh seafood for you but the organization and process at mfk. restaurant was a bit different.

What an incredible spot this is! I had visited many years ago and remembered it being really good but it has only gotten better as time has passed. I went with my family and we got to share about 6 dishes. The ratatouille was divine, the skate perfectlyseasoned and cooked, tasty lamb merguez, and the fideos were cooked in a highly addictive saffron cream sauce. The dessertdidn’t disappoint in the form of a basque almond cake. Excellent yet unpretentious service. The space is very intimate andcozy so make sure to make reservations.

Great seafood oriented tapas style dining. The best basque cake ever and kick butt anchovy and boquerones dishes. The roasted mushrooms and the little gem salad courses were excellent. Liked several of the new dishes.

There aren’t enough stars to truly capture how incredible our dining experience was at this fantastic restaurant. Our server, Mick, was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly, bringing a personal touch that I've never encountered elsewhere, which made our experience even more enjoyable. She recommended the perfect wine, and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for it in the future. Mick and the kitchen staff were very accommodating regarding my cilantro allergy, and the absence of it in my dish did nothing to lessen the glorious and enticing flavors. The portion sizes were ideal; you’ll leave fully satisfied without feeling hungry later in the evening. The flavors and textures were absolutely phenomenal. Every bite had us saying "ooh" and "ahh" throughout the night. Each dish was delightful, prompting plenty of “OMG” moments! This experience was not just impressive; it was truly enchanting. It’s a paradise for food lovers—quiet, intimate, and upscale, making it perfect for a relaxing night out. You will love everything you try here, from cocktails and appetizers to entrees and desserts. I highly recommend the Suzuki crudo, Spanish tortilla, fideo, and the cauliflower dish. I’d be first in line if they ever bottled their sauces! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation as soon as possible.

Dinner was truly fantastic. The bar program is outstanding, featuring a wonderful selection of tropical cocktails, all expertly crafted. I particularly enjoyed the Jungle Bird. I took my future in-laws here for a private conversation and we were provided with impeccable service, almost like white glove treatment. The prawn head special was intriguing, and I absolutely loved the Spanish tortilla and the scallops. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and the cooking methods. The music in the restaurant was also exceptional! I highly recommend this place, and I can't wait to return!

Is this a MFK'ing joke? Seating at the bottom of the basement stairs on iron chairs with the sad mediocre food and servers with an attitude? If I wanted to eat a stale anchovy on a dry bread with a semi-melted butter while being reminded how much time is left on my reservation, I’d definitely stay home. This place is an absolute disgrace. One star is one too many.

Extremely cozy restaurant with excellent food. The best steak I've ever had. The crab ceviche and croquettes were also delicious. The food has been consistently incredible, and the atmosphere is trendy without being pretentious.

Gorgeous food! My favorite was the panko egg plant. I did find the sole too salty but other than that was amazing

I've spent time in Bilbao and love all kinds of tapas. The food here is a cross between the traditional and contemporary. Wonderful experience. Not outrageous prices either.

I think it's way overpriced. Food quality is OK, not that impressive. It's cozy, great experience with welcoming and friendly staff though.

This restaurant is an excellent choice for a dinner date or a lovely family meal. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the cocktails are outstanding. It’s hard to find a better spot for dinner or cocktails in the Lake View East neighborhood.

Food was interesting, tasty, and well plated. Favorite small plate for me was the squash blossoms. Partner loved the anchovies. We shared the main, fideous, which we recommend. Neil our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Prices reasonable. The patio is really four tables out front.

Loved the bright, cozy atmosphere, the food and the service. Don't forget to save room for the Basque cake for dessert.

This is a small restaurant, seats maybe 30 people, so the staff are attentive, friendly, and know the menu. We had lamb, beats, conscious, meatballs, and a couple of other dishes, across the menu and did not have a bad dish. If you like $8 tapas this is not the place for you. If you like good, creative, small plate dishes and are willing to try new things, this is a great location gem. Only reason I did not give it a 5 was the wine menu only had one wine above a 3.8 on Vino app to order.

Tried several dishes. Overall impression is good. But, at around $14+ per small plate, it’s just not worth it. Mostly a reinterpretation of tapas that come for nearly free at many bars in Spain and Portugal. That aside, as tapas go, it just does not live up to the reviews. Service was good. Patatas braves and croquettes were mush. And 3 mussels on a crostini with a bland goat cheese was a serious gouge at $14.

Small restaurant with good seafood options. Recommend reservations and parking may be an issue. Spanish Basque oriented food. Caipirinhas and white wine with dinner. The Tapas de Jamon was a great spreadable and shareable starter. The pea salad was excellent. I tried the prawn heads and was wary because of a past Chinatown experience but these were fine. Share the Seafood Fideos also excellent. We came early but restaurant filled up quickly and noise level was fine. Only why didn't rate 5 star as the restaurant does not do any special orders or changes to dishes. Looking forward to returning and trying more offerings from this great little restaurant.
