Wonderful dinner as always. Dante our waiter was very knowledgeable and shred a lot of information with us. We had the special tasting menu they had supporting meals on wheels and it was amazing. View all feedback.
What Sunshine Haynie doesn't like about Mercat a la Planxa:
the food was disappointing, especially the paella. it was burnt and overly seasoned. the croquetas and espinacas were reasonably good. the sangria was ok, although I have had better. I am probably spoilt because I have visited Jose Andres' restaurants many times, and this food did not measure up to that standard. Disappointing overall, and took a real bite out of my wallet. This may have just been an off day. Past dining experiences at Mercat have been good. Even though the restaurant was not very crowded, service was slow and impersonal. Some of the food items were acceptable. but none were great.
Service was great. The team was attentive and helped us keep to our deadline to make it to a concert performance at Auditorium Theatre.
We had a very nice meal (brunch)…food was delicious and we sat in a bright corner of the restaurant. We liked it very much!!! The bacon wrapped dates were to die for….
If I could give a restaurant 10 stars, it would be Mercat a la Planxa. We have never had so much fun eating dinner. The service was incredible. The food was amazing!!! Everything we ordered was delicious! We ordered the Traditional Experience Menu. It came with a little bit of everything. You paid the same price person. It was worth every penny. We left full and happy. (Note: Be sure to look at all my pics to see what we ate.
Went there to celebrate a birthday. The waiter tried to push meat on us when we were already spending a ton of money and we order other meat items. The sangria pitcher was like half full when it came to the table as the cups with a ton of ice were already full. Not really a discount as the cost of 4-5 individual bought cups was the same as the 4-5 glasses we got out of the pitcher… it was tasty though, just not a bargain like pitchers are supposed to be. The food flavor profiles were pretty good. We like the tomato and the tomato and prosciutto bread the most. It’s a fun experience, but I think we’d try a different tapas place in the future… The churros were good, but the cheesecake—sold as the best cheesecake ever—was burnt and fluffy—NOT GOOD!
