Le Colonial - Chicago
Le Colonial
Description
Le Colonial, the Vietnamese and French fusion restaurant, offers impressive culinary creations that delight the palate, featuring dishes like shrimp on sugar cane and flavorful red snapper. Guests appreciate the high-quality food and vibrant ambiance, making it a noteworthy spot for celebrations. However, service inconsistencies mar the experience. Some diners faced issues such as loud seating, delays in service, and lack of attentiveness from staff. Despite the upscale surroundings and safety protocols in place, several patrons noted that the overall service fell short, leaving them with mixed feelings. While the cuisine shines, the dining experience could benefit from improved service.

This is absolutely my favorite restaurant at all times! Love all of their cute appetizers soup and salads. The dessert panna cotta is a must try! And the Vietnamese coffee is my favorite will come back soon ️
First time dining at a high end Vietnamese restaurant! Loved their fried spring roll, pho, and scallop salad (everything we ordered today~ Lychee Martini and Papaya colada were just okay.
Food was fine. No complains there. I do have major misgivings about its name and all the decors (specifically the pictures hung on the wall) which (to me) celebrates the shameful history of the colonialism and French occupation of Indochina). I find them very offensive as a POC. I went there based on some good recommendations of friends, at which time I didn’t think much about its name. Only after I went there did I have this emotion.
This is a go to place for taking clients and people visiting from out of town. The setting is beautiful (ask for seating on the terrace) The staff is always welcoming and the food is always delicious and consistent. Drinks are delightful.
This place was good! I went here after the owner of Chicago Raw suggested it for vegan food. I got the vegetable rolls, which were basic, but delicious. I got a Negroni, which was $16, overpriced, but I guess it needs to be the same price as the other listed cocktails. Really pricy place but it has beautiful decor.
