Kumiko|Overall (5/5) Atmosphere. Beautiful Japanese-inspired bar with a calm, refined vibe.. Cocktails • Cloud Hopper (Rice Shochu). Very clean and refreshing with a strong rice character. Lightly sweet and easy to drink, but not quite special enough for me to be memorable. • Moonlight Daiquiri (Flight). A really interesting progression. The main cocktail was a gently sweet matcha-forward drink. The flight moved through ginjo cocktail tea, creating layered textures and flavors that evolved with each sip. Thoughtful and well executed. • Sea Flower (Gin-based) ½. Strong and spirit-forward, with a salty-sour powder around the rim. Quite acidic and bold, but well balanced and nicely done. • Hojicha Gimlet. My favorite of the night. Made with dry gin and roasted green tea—deep tea aroma, clean structure, and incredibly satisfying. The tea flavor really came through. Overall Thoughts. No surprise this place consistently ranks among the world’s top bars. The cocktails are precise, intentional, and quietly complex rather than flashy. Also tried the truffle milk toast and potato salad—both were excellent and much better than expected. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $100+
We went to the Whiskey bar in the basement of Kumiko. It’s an amazing cozy speakeasy vibe. The cocktails are excellent, with the staff explaining every taste profile. We’ve been upstairs for food which they have downstairs also. So of course we also ordered food. Truly enjoyed the evening. Service, cocktails, food all amazing. Food is absolutely delicious. It was a unique experience. I definitely loved the fact vegetables are from local farmers, and would love to see more information, videos or pictures about the farm and farmers contributing to fresh food.
Kumiko’s to-go offerings are delightful, you can pre-order, and they will bring to your car. Which makes it very convenient Their cocktails, snacks, teas, and matcha are all carefully packaged, which is a huge plus; we went to the Japanese garden to enjoy these and have also enjoyed them on their patio. You can never go wrong with them!
I have been wanting to visit Kumiko for quite some time, but due to COVID I put off my hopes for the time being. I 'm about 8 months sober, and my desire to go to Kumiko was to experience the beautiful spirit-free drinks. Little did I know, my mom had discovered this and decided to order the Omochi-Kaeri versions of several spirit-free drinks to surprise me for Thanksgiving. She emailed with questions and got an almost immediate response both times (even during closed business hours). The response even included a 'congratulations to your daughter ' about my sobriety. I was in tears when she told me. Not only were the drinks absolutely beautiful, delicious, and sophisticated (the best spirit-free I 've ever experienced), but the service and kindness went even beyond that.
