King Sweets - Chicago
King Sweets
Description
King Sweets on Devon blends family-run, nostalgic charm with standout South Asian breakfasts and sweets — from kulfi and Kashmiri/Irani chai to acclaimed halwa puri, chole batura, and paya. Many praise authentic flavors and generous portions, making it a neighborhood brunch staple, while others report inconsistent cooking, soggy or dry puris, slow service at peak times, and cleanliness concerns (dirty restrooms, a pest sighting). Expect a casual, busy spot with street parking and wheelchair-friendly access.

We are a group of 20 from California who recently visited Chicago and had brunch at Kings Sweets today. The food was incredible! We ordered Halwa Puri, Chole Batura, Paya, Naan, Kashmiri Chai, and Irani Chai. The Halwa Puri was a solid 9/10; the potato curry and chole that accompanied it were exceptionally delicious. The Chole Batura earned a perfect 10/10—super creamy and full of flavor. The Paya also impressed us with a 10/10 rating; everyone enjoyed its perfect blend of spices and taste. The Naan was another standout at 10/10, pairing perfectly with the Paya and exuding freshness and aroma. The Kashmiri Chai received an 8/10—it was good, but I wished the nut flavor was more pronounced. Lastly, the Irani Chai was a triumph, scoring a 10/10 for its ideal sweetness and flavor. Overall, our experience at Kings Sweets was fantastic! We would definitely return.
