MIND BLOWN. Best sushi in Chicago hands down. Amazing Japanese cuisine, beautiful presentation, delicious sake, and incredible, personalized service (I have several dietary restrictions). The unagi was to-die-for and every bite from their menu was unique and very special. Very knowledgeable and accommodating staff, and cozy atmosphere. I will be coming back here many, many more times.... I can't wait to see what's next up on the menu!
Omakase was excellent, every course very creative and delicious. But the service was…odd. We were rushed through our last few courses, offered dessert but given the check at the same time, and told to finish our wine standing next to the door (there is no bar). We were told more than once the next table had arrived so we had to go. The thing that confused us was why let us order omakase and dessert (and a second bottle of wine) if we only had 2 hours to enjoy? Yes when we reviewed our reservation on Tock it said two hour seating, but it would have been helpful to have been reminded of this at the start of the meal. This was a $900 outing and unfortunately, despite the exceptional food, the service is not worth the price point and I would not recommend. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
Always a great time here. They have one of the best omakase I've experienced in Chicago. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. If you love sushi, Kai Zan is a must try. Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
