Kaathis - Chicago
Kaathis
Description
Kaathis serves craveable Indian street-food rolls and bowls with crisp bread, affordable prices and solid vegetarian choices. Fans praise chicken tikka, chilli and paneer rolls and friendly service, but experiences are uneven: some items taste reheated or precooked, biryani can be poorly cooked, spice levels may be excessive, and order accuracy and hours have sometimes been unreliable. A good quick, budget-friendly stop for flavorful rolls — but expect occasional service and consistency issues.

Reasonable prices! I had selected “medium” from the options “medium” or “hot”. Their paneer bowl and the aloo gobhi roll were delicious; however, the roll had a hazardous level of hot green chilies for me. I love these green chilies, but 1 2 diced pieces are enough in a roll of this size. My burning mouth from the chilies made me open the roll, and I found a giant layer of chilies inside. I am glad I uncovered this and removed all of these before finishing the rest of the roll. Otherwise, I am sure this amount and level of chilies would have made me sick. My heart rate was up for about 40 minutes after accidentally eating a couple of them. Kaathis your food is delicious without this insane amount of chilies. Please don’t feel the need to add so many of them. 1 2 tiny diced pieces (not 1 2 chilies) should be enough. I hope that you consider this feedback. Thanks for serving this variety of Indian street food in our city!
The one black guy working on 8/20/22 is awful. Door was open but the black dude said the store was closed and was very rude. He commanded me to exit the premises. I’ve had no problem with this location before. All the other workers are good except this guy. I placed an order around 11:55 am and spent money. My order never got completed and I lost money. I need my money back ASAP! the service was absolutely unacceptable.
Kathi rolls at this place are really good. We ordered Chicken chilli, Chicken tikka and egg rolls and all of them were delicious. Stay away from Biryani though. It was not fresh and tasty at all. Biryani rice was not cooked properly. Server literally took previously prepared Biryani and warmed it up in microwave before packing it for me.
Delicious food and super friendly staff. The bread they use for the rolls is amazing.Vegetarian options: A few veg options as main dishes. There's a cauliflower roll and a paneer roll.
